Latest 10.5.5 seed shows fewer issues

Apple seems to be getting through builds of Mac OS X v10.5.5 pretty darn quick. Recent reports show that Apple has seeded two versions of the update, 9F25 and 9F29, within the last week. The same report shows that the number of fixes is rapidly decreasing, with only one remaining known bug.

The former of the two builds, 9F25, was rather insignificant, with no fixes and no known bugs. The second of the builds, in contrast, shows fixes having to do with issues with previously joined networks in AirPort, and issues with graphics frameworks. The only current known bug is an issue with searching messages in Mail.app.

Mac OS X 10.5.2 Gets Even Larger!

MacScoop appears to have gotten their hands on release notes for the latest OS X 10.5 build released to developers during Macworld. In an update to their article, MacScoop announced potentially the most exciting bits of information about 10.5.2: it adds support for sharing your optical drive with another computer a la the MacBook Air. Interestingly, the way it was worded, it sounds like it will work with any computer, so if one of your computers has a broken optical drive, perhaps this is good news for you. The other big feature of 10.5.2 according to MacScoop is to use a networked volume with Time Machine. This was a feature that was in the developer builds but was withdrawn for the final release. This means that you don’t have to run out and buy Time Capsule if you already have an external drive and an Airport Extreme Base Station.
