Google CEO Eric Schmidt resigns from Apple Board of Directors
The perfect marriage between Google and Apple was not to be, it seems, as CEO of Google Eric Schmidt has resigned from the Apple Board of Directors. Schmidt, who had been a board member for 2 years, has resigned at a time where the Mountain View search/advertising company is branching out into Apple’s territory. With each producing competing smartphone platforms (Android and iPhone) and possibly even operating systems (Chrome OS and Mac OS X) Schmidt’s presence in the Apple boardroom was beginning to be one of conflicting interest, even though he had been removing himself from decisions where the two companies overlapped.
