iPad Appidemic: Danger Derby

Danger Derby is a top-down racer where you take control of miniature cars and race against other cars in a circuit. Being a top-down racer, the game doesn’t require much in the way of graphics. But that’s not to say the game’s graphics are bad. On the contrary, this is one of the most well-rendered environments I’ve seen in an iPad game. If you’re looking for a game that offers deep racing gameplay and tons of challenge, I’d waste no time in getting this app from the iPad App Store.

Appletell reviews iBomber 2 for iPhone, iPod touch

iBomber 2 is pure, simple, action arcade gaming. This new version supports multitasking in iOS 4, and features touch control if that’s your thing. The updates are fine, but perhaps not enough for owners of iBomber to upgrade (unless you look at it as getting 12 new missions for $3.00 instead of two for $0.99 via in-app purchases). Perhaps it’s unfair of me to want it to be more, so I won’t dock it for being itself. Why should I, when it’s wonderfully entertaining as it is?

Appletell reviews Low Grav Racer 2 HD for iPad

Apple sure does love the racing games, dont they? And why? Because the accelerometer sucks for just about every other type of game, so what else are you going to show people tilting the iDevice for in your commercials? Pac-Man? No, a racing game, and if Apple is looking for one to fearture in an iPad commercial, they’d do well to consider Cobra Mobile’s Low Grav Racer 2 HD.

App it Up: Stuck Genie

Stuck Genie is a unique puzzler that kind of combines those labyrinth marble games with Tetris, without really being anything like either. It will not be a top app for the majority of iPhone gamers. Rather, it’ll likely become one of those games you play infrequently, but that you never delete from your iDevice because it’s always good for a quick gaming session.

iPhone flight sim dogfight

I’ve always enjoyed flying games. I’ve also always hated them. Total ambivalence. I love the action and feel of flying a plane, provided I don’t have to actually learn anything in order to fly it. I don’t want realism or rudders or wind speed gauges, I just want to turn, dive and blow stuff up. Thankfully, a few iPhone developers agree with me, and this iPhone flight sim dogfight will determine which will rule the skies over Cupertino: Top Gun, iBomber, or Allied Aces: Stunt Pilot.
