Last month, Appletell reported that Apple Computer likely bought the iCloud domain name and that it probably would be used for an iTunes music streaming service. Now, we have a lot more information about how iTunes and iCloud can work together and why it will be to your advantage; especially if you use an iPod, iPhone, or iPad.
Rumor: Beatles on iTunes…really, for real, they mean it this time
If the heiress of John Lennon is to be believed (that’s Yoko Ono), then tomorrow’s special event might finally bring the Beatles to iTunes. Yoko’s comment made a brief appearance on Sky News and then quickly vanished thanks to the powers that be. The only remaining evidence is thanks to some quick eyes at 9to5Mac and a partial Google cache. Just to balance it out a bit, The Financial Times is reporting just the opposite.
Apple and record labels to compete for new type of album
Recent news from the recording industry and record labels is showing that there is possibly a new type of album on the horizon. Apparently, the four major record labels (EMI, Sony, Universal and Warner) have been working on a new file format called called CMX that will make albums more useful to consumers by adding extra content. As the story goes, they approached Apple with this format, and Apple declined to join with them. It now appears as if Apple is creating their own format to compete with that of the record labels.

The Financial Times is reporting that Apple is planning on releasing the long rumored “iTablet” device much sooner than next year as more recent rumors were pinpointing as the release date. No, apparently thanks to EMI, Sony Music, Warner Music and Universal Music Group, Apple will supposedly be releasing this device sometime around September.
McCartney wants Beatles+iTunes deal, talks have stalled
What’s holding up the release of the Beatles catalog on iTunes? Not (Sir) Paul McCartney, who told the press that while talks have stalled, he wants it to happen.
“The last word I got back was it’s stalled at the whole moment, the whole process,” the former Beatle said Monday. “I really hope it will happen because I think it should.”
McCartney, who was speaking at the launch of his new album, Electric Arguments, added: “It’s between EMI and the Beatles, I think.”
McCartney is, of course, best known for writing the theme song to Spies Like Us.
iTunes Plus to add more major music labels?
According to two of CNet’s music industry sources, Apple is currently in negotiations with three major music labels about getting more DRM free content onto their iTunes Plus Store.
