LaCie ships Little Big Disk, external Thunderbolt hard drive
A few weeks ago Appletell previewed some of the upcoming Thunderbolt accessories, including an external hard drive from LaCie called Little Big Disk. At the time, this was still in development, but thankfully the wait is over and it’s now available at the Apple Store in both HDD and SSD models. Just remember to buy Apple’s Thunderbolt cable, which comes separately and costs $49.
Macworld 2011: Sanho announces new HyperDrive Hard Drive for iPad
Sanho Corporation, the guys behind everyone’s favorite and mostly legal MacBook batteries, announced the next HyperDrive Hard Drive for iPad. No, it won’t get you into hyperspace, not unless you put some Star Wars on it at least. It’s an external hard drive made especially for the iPad. The new version will allow users to browse and transfer up to 1TB of content.
Macworld Expo 2011: Seagate showcases GoFlex for Mac drives
Seagate has introduced a new collection of GoFlex for Mac external drives that, as they claim, address “… the personal preferences of the Mac community.” The drives make it easy for Time Machine users to back up, shuttle and share their digital content. The new products are being showcased and demoed this week at Macworld Expo in San Francisco.
HItachi announces annorexic G-DRIVE Slim USB HDD
Hitachi has announced their thinnest external hard drive to date: the G-DRIVE Slim. At 9.9mm, it’s the thinnest external hard drive in existence. It’s the perfect accessory to supplement the internal storage available on Apple’s MacBook Air. Actually, it might even make the Air look fat, being that it’s .7 cm thinner at the Air’s thickest point. The Slim comes with 320GB of storage, connects over USB 2.0 and will retail for $99.99, just in time for the holiday season this year.

The G Technology G-DRIVE mobile is among the best looking and better performing mobile drives currently available. Like all G Technology drives, it comes with every cable you could hope to use with it. And the fact that it comes preformatted for Mac just adds to the appeal of this mobile drive. Apple launches MacBook repair extension program for hard drive issues
A hard drive failure is one of the most painful problems than can affect your computer. Sadly, Apple has identified that a “very small” percentage of MacBooks sold between May 2006 and the end of 2007 are exhibiting higher than normal hard drive failure rates. If you have one of these MacBooks, drop everything and backup your data. The identifying symptom of this problem, hard drive failure, is booting to a flashing question mark instead of OS X.
