Apple makes Final Cut Studio available for sale again
After all of the controversy surrounding the lack of features in Apple’s newest Final Cut Pro X, it’s not much of a surprise the company has brought back Final Cut Studio for sale. The software is now available again for $999 with a $100 discount for educational customers, and is only available for purchase by calling 800-MY-APPLE and not through Apple’s retail or online stores.
Final Cut Express and Server discontinued
After the release of Final Cut Pro X yesterday, Apple has decided to discontinue both Final Cut Express and Final Cut Server (along with Final Cut Studio). Those looking for video editing software from Apple will now only have two choices: iMovie or Final Cut Pro X.
Apple introduces Final Cut X to Supermeet, no one else
So! Apple yesterday gave a preview of the latest update to Final Cut Pro, the video editing software used by professional moviemakers, advertisers, those who make a living producing industrial films, indie filmmakers and dedicated amateurs. It included an amazing laundry list of features, is a 64 bit app, has a major drop, and is not mentioned anywhere on Apple’s site. Seriously.
New Final Cut Pro Studio on April 12?
Apple releases a new version of Final Cut Pro (as part of the Studio bundle) approximately every two years, and now it looks like we’re about to see the next version. The ProVideo Coalition is reporting on some very reliable rumors that Apple will show off the next version Final Cut Pro at the Final Cut Pro User Group’s Supermeet in Las Vegas on April 12th. What’s the proof, you ask?
Apple updates Final Cut Studio with more than 100 new features
Coming quietly in the night like a ninja, it appears as if Apple has updated much of their more expensive software. According to Phil Schiller, “The new Final Cut Studio includes more than 100 new features and dramatically expands Apple’s ProRes family of codecs so editors can work in the studio with the highest quality video or on location at low bandwidths.” However, it is also interesting that Apple has decreased the price tag on this product by $300 and priced it at $999, or just $299 for an update.
Apple releases an update for Final Cut Studio
Apple released an update today for Final Cut Studio 2.0, its professional video editing suite of applications for Macs. According to Apple’s changelog, Pro Applications Update 2008-01 includes Final Cut Pro 6.0.3 and Compressor 3.0.3.
The new update for Final Cut Pro resolves five issues including one that would warn that a project file was unreadable or too new for that specific version of Final Cut Pro. A problem with images being scaled when exported from the application has also been fixed; still images are now exported at their native export ratio.
Final Cut Server Released
After its many delays, Final Cut Server is finally here. Apple’s online store had a short downtime today, and resulted in Final Cut Server being released. After its announcement at the NAB 2007, Final Cut Server is now available from Apple’s online store and Apple retail stores for $999 (10-client), and $1999 (unlimited client licenses). For those that don’t know what I’m talking about, Final Cut Server is “a scaleable server application…allows searching across multiple disks and SAN volumes and enables viewing, annotation and approval of content from anywhere using a PC or Mac®.”
Apple cancels NAB appearance, nothing new this year
Okay, so the title I put out there may not be exactly true, but what is true is that TVTechnology.com has received confirmation that Apple will not have a booth at NAB this year. NAB, the National Association of Broadcasters show, is a show packed full of video-related product releases and goodies. Last year Apple more »
