iPhone Dev-Team launches yellowsn0w unlock
Ringing in the new year is the iPhone Dev Team, who have just made available their iPhone 3G unlock software, entitled “yellowsn0w.” Contradicting their previous blog posts, however, is the fact that this only runs on the 2.2 firmware, whereas the Dev Team had stated the unlock would not work on this version of the more »

I love Google translate, it adds that special touch that only a machine can.
There are a bunch of features and updates to look forward to in iPhone Firmware 2.2…
What to expect in upcoming iPhone firmware 2.2
As soon as one firmware update is released by Apple, the first thing to do is start waiting for the next one. iPhone 2.1 is great, but no matter what, we’ll always want more. In fact, I can think of one specific feature that’s driving a lot of people crazy…Copy and Paste! Sadly, it’s not on the list, but did you really think it would be? It’s such a simple feature, but you know it’s going to be huge when it finally makes it’s way on to the iPhone. While we’re waiting for that, at least we’ll be treated to some new features in the not too distant future.
Google’s Street View to be included in iPhone firmware 2.2
MacRumors has gotten word that the newest version of the beta for iPhone firmware 2.2 contains more than just bug fixes. The update was marked as “compatibility testing,” and we’re finally finding out just what Apple is testing the compatibility of.
Check out the new features after the break.
An interface tweak to a future version of Safari for iPhone
Apparently, iPhone Firmware 2.2 beta 1 is more than just bug fixes, as originally reported. So far, not much more, but we’ll take every little bit we can get.
According to iPhoneAtlas, in the latest iPhone firmware for registered developers, Safari has experienced a few interface tweaks. As you can see at right, the address bar has been changed to more closely resemble the desktop version of Safari.
Gone are the refresh and search buttons. Take out your iPhone and have a look. There used to be a magnifying glass for searching to the left of the address bar, and there used to be a refresh button to the right.
The new mobile Safari has two input fields. The standard address bar now holds a refresh icon to the right, and a search box off to the right side.
iPhone Firmware 2.2 Beta 1 seeded to developers
It seems Apple has fixed most of the large problems with the iPhone’s firmware with the iPhone 2.1 release, but they are by no means stopping there. Apple has seeded firmware 2.2 beta 1 to developers, but it’s unclear as to what is different.
Along with the beta firmware comes the newest build of the iPhone SDK (build 9M2611). The firmware is labeled with “compatibility testing,” but that’s the only clue. Whether push notifications have made their way into this build is also unclear. But, according to the latest supposed e-mail from Steve, it’s on their minds.
We’re running a bit late. We want to get it 100% right the first time.
Steve
