From time to time, we at Appletell like to draw special attention to new products and updates. In my particular case, it tends to happen often with Boinx. This week, the company announced updates to its popular FotoMagico slideshow generator, including iMediaBrowser 2 integration, updated Flickr support and a consumer-friendly FotoMagico Remote price reduction to boot. FotoMagico fills a very specific niche of people who need to do slide shows that are image or video-based, rather than communicating through text (like Powerpoint or Keynote). Because while Fotomagico does have a simple text tool, it’s based around the idea of visuals swimming by the viewer. It’s an ideal application for creating a photomontage.

Today at Macworld Expo, Boinx will be showing off their new versions of PhotoPresenter and FotoMagico. PhotoPresenter 4 is a theme-based photo viewer for creating stylish animated slideshows with photos, movies and music in just a few seconds. Sometimes when I observe the desperate struggle for relevance, it makes me sad. How can you watch a recent Madonna video, the latest Jim Carrey movie, or anything having to do with the Microsoft Zune and not be sympathetic to their plight?
