Game Your Video for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch review
In these days where videos bounce from the actual event to YouTube with just a few taps of an onscreen button, Game Your Video gives you the chance to actually make those videos worth watching with just a few more taps of a button. You already know how to use this app, because it works like your iPhone works: tap and swipe. And the more you use it, the more you realize what it can do.
Macworld | iWorld 2012: Appletell’s surprising finds [updated]
Another Macworld has come and gone, this time taking a new name with it. And just as the new name implies a shift away from the Macintosh and towards Apple’s iDevices, so do our surprising finds, for the second year in a row. iOS apps and accessories dominated the show floor, three of which took us pleasantly by surprise: a video app, an art app, and some slick iPhone cases.
Camera Plus Pro gets “soft flash” for birthday
Camera Plus Pro—one of my favorite camera apps for the iPhone and iPod touch—celebrated its 2nd birthday in the App Store this weekend by offering gifts to its users, especially those using the iPod touch and iPhone 3GS. These devices don’t have basic flash functionality, and Camera Plus Pro v4.3 looks to address this with its new live Soft Flash feature.
Camera Plus Pro v4 offers live video/photo filters, 30x faster
Camera Plus Pro, one of our favorite camera apps for iPhone, has been updated to v4 with a new camera engine that’s 30x faster, according to developer Global Delight. The update brings with it live photo and video filters, a UI makeover and the resurrection of the jerk-free Smooth Zoom Feature. Camera Plus Pro v4 is compatible with iPhone 3G/3GS, iPhone 4 and iPod touch with camera.
Global Delight updates Boom speaker volume booster
Early this year, Global Delight released Boom, their software-based MacBook speaker booster. In his review, Appletell’s Bill Stiteler wrote, “At five bucks, Boom falls into that dead useful category of utilities. The ones you expect Apple to implement itself. Not everyone will need Boom, but everyone can think of a use for it.” But there were some issues, and Global Delight has addressed many of them with their v1.2 update.
Camera Plus Pro updated, Metamorphosis iPhoneography contest started
Camera Plus Pro has been one of our favorite camera apps since its release. It was updated this week with 21 new photo filters and 9 new distortion effects, but perhaps the bigger news is Global Delight’s announcement of their Metamorphosis contest, in which Camera Plus Pro users will have the opportunity to win an iPad 2, iPod 2, and iPod shuffle, along with daily prizes for Twitter and Facebook followers.
Boom speaker booster for MacBook review
Boom makes your speakers louder. Now, this is a pretty remarkable achievement for laptops which often sacrifice sound for size. Showing off YouTube videos in noisy rooms? Want to watch (and hear) a movie on your Macbook without having to sit it on your lap? Maybe you’ve got an audio file that’s simply too soft? Boom can help you. It works simply enough; it adds another switch to your menu bar that “goes to 11,” with a longer volume control.
iPhone Appidemic: Camera Plus Pro
I find something liberating about all of these photo effect apps for the iPhone. Being an avid Photoshop user, I’m used to getting exactly what I want out of an image if I’m willing to work at it long enough. That type of power and control is not available on an iPhone app, of course, but that makes it more fun to play around with. And when it comes to iPhone photography and manipulation, few are as fun as Camera Plus Pro.
iPad Appidemic: Photo Delight
It’s amazing how the lack of camera does not discourage app developers from creating photo-related apps for iPad. There are a lot of these apps, and most them are quite good. One of these is called Photo Delight, an easy-to-use iPad app that gives new life to your Facebook photos and those stored in your iPad.
Appletell reviews Voila 3 for Mac OS X
If you’re looking for a way to capture your screen using either images or video, there are plenty of options on the market for Mac OS X software. In fact, Apple’s OS X actually has some pretty great built-in support for image captures. However, for those who need a little more functionality or the ability to take videos of their screens for tutorials, etc., Voila 3 is a great option. With great interface and stable functionality, I’d definitely recommend it.
