iPhone cracked to the core, tool coming next week
It looks like the iPhone Dev Team has done it again, but this time taking it to whole new levels. Previous releases from the iPhone Dev Team have helped you Jailbreak your iPhone and get it working on pretty much any GSM carrier, but this new tool named ‘Pwnage’ will allow you to get to more »
Found Footage: iPhone firmware 1.2 hacked
The iPhone hackers just won’t take a break; it appears iPhone firmware 1.2 has been somehow found and hacked already. It has all of the features that Steve demonstrated in the iPhone SDK Roadmap event. The features you’ll notice in the video include:
- New calculator design with squared buttons
- The iTunes Wi-Fi Store is now simply called “iTunes”, and has a new icon
- Time Zone support in Calendar
- Microsoft Exchange in the new Mail accounts
- Parental controls
- Cisco VPN support
Unfortunately what is not shown is the AppStore, the major new feature that we’ll be seeing in June. This could be because the AppStore just doesn’t work from outside of Apple right now, or that if they were to launch it, the IP would be shown to Apple, and it would be a security risk.

Install Aperture on any Mac
Although I prefer Lightroom (as many of you may know), Aperture is a subpar, secondary alternative available from Apple. With 2.0 being released lately, many people were astonished that Aperture wouldn’t run on their systems, simply because they were too old. If you’re one of those people with an old processor or graphics card, today’s more »
Cheat the iTunes rental system
Many think that the iTunes Movie Rentals have too strict time limitations. You only get to watch your movie for 24 hours once you have started playing it. Clever hackers have developed a simple loop in Apple’s system, which allows you to rent movies, and keep them with plenty of time to watch them. The more »
Skype coming to the AppleTV
These days, it seems like everything you own needs some sort of Skype integration. Your fridge, your phone, and now, your AppleTV. A Canadian teen has hacked the device to get it working with a wireless keyboard and a GPS unit. The idea is to use your AppleTV as an in-car media center. Apparently, later more »
Trojan released for Jailbroken iPhones
F-Secure picked up on the fake 1.1.3 firmware prep that has been circulating on the third party iPhone apps download sites. The fake application was a trojan that when installed did nothing but when uninstalled removed quite a few third party applications. The app, ironically, was created by an 11 year old changing XML files. more »
Bill Clinton is an iPhone user
These days, everyone is an iPhone user. But this one is different. Former US President Bill Clinton is an iPhone user. A reader over at TUAW claims to have gotten his very own iPhone autographed by Bill Clinton, while in the process, Bill himself claimed to have his own. And this is not any iPhone. more »
Turn your iPod video into an iPod Touch sans the touch
So you really want an iPod Touch. You want one really badly. But you don’t have the money. What do you do? Why hack it of course. The guys over at iPodHacking have come up with a hack, that will turn your iPod video (5G or 5.5G) into an iPod Touch. Well, at least an more »
Leopard’s Screen Sharing App can be Expanded
If you have Leopard and haven’t tried out at the very least iChat’s built in screen sharing capabilities, I’m wondering why not? It is, for lack of a better word, awesome. I’ve seen and done screen sharing before, but iChat makes it so easy- and pretty darn fast even at a full resolution. iChat is more »
Breaking: VOIP working on iPod Touch
Hackers never cease to amaze me. While they are a never-ending nuisance for Apple, hackers keep adding functionality to Apple devices such as the iPhone, AppleTV, and iPod Touch that Apple has not implemented (yet). First came the third-party apps. And now, hacker Marian, the guy who built a pre-amped mic for his iPod Touch, more »
