LaCie ships Little Big Disk, external Thunderbolt hard drive
A few weeks ago Appletell previewed some of the upcoming Thunderbolt accessories, including an external hard drive from LaCie called Little Big Disk. At the time, this was still in development, but thankfully the wait is over and it’s now available at the Apple Store in both HDD and SSD models. Just remember to buy Apple’s Thunderbolt cable, which comes separately and costs $49.
Thunderbolt iMac teardown
The only way to really know how something works is by taking it apart and the folks at iFixit did just that with a 21.5″ Thunderbolt iMac. While many of the components were the same from the previous iMac there were a few surprises. For instance, it’s now possible to replace the CPU and the graphics card separately instead of having to replace the entire logic board if either of them fail, which can get quite costly out of warranty.
Toshiba announces new 1.8″ drives
If 160GB is not enough capacity for an iPod, Toshiba has announced a new prototype of a 1.8″ HDD that could potentially hold up to 240GB.
