Does Apple fear putting Hulu Plus on Apple TV?

9to5Mac is reporting that Apple made a decision not to update it’s Apple TV software with the Hulu Plus app for a “political not a technical reason.” Sources claim the Hulu Plus application has been finished and is ready to be installed on Apple TV, but development has been placed on hold. It’s speculated that the hold-up is because Apple wants to protect its own iTunes revenue stream.

Rumor: Apple to refresh Apple TV, add TV rentals for 99 cents

Rumors have been swirling around a potential Apple TV price drop to $99. In addition, we’ve also read Apple TV will stream content to users, instead of storing content locally. The last major rumor that’s been circulating is that it will, in the future, use a variation of the iOS software. But now, you can add this to that laundry list of rumors: TV show rentals for 99 cents a piece.

Macworld 2010: iPhone apps it would be nice to have

Macworld 2010 is upon us, where numerous developers will be showing off the iPhone apps they’ve released and previewing what’s ahead. Appletell will be there to find the gems, but what about all the apps that won’t be there? There are a lot of great apps in the app store, but that doesn’t meant there couldn’t be even more. What kind, you may ask? Well how about…

Boxee announces partnership with Pandora, PBS app and more

Today at Boxee’s meetup in New York it was announced that Boxee will be receiving even more impressive updates. Just as you might have suspected, they’ve found a way around Hulu yet again, and this time, it’s not blockable without taking the entire site down. But there’s more. They now have a partnership with Pandora and a new PBS application.

Miss Hulu on Boxee? You have a few other options

It was a sad day when Hulu’s advertisers decided that they needed to pull themselves from Boxee. The only ones they are really hurting are themselves (and perhaps Hulu in the process). But never fear, you have various options on how to watch Hulu, none of which involve actually going to Hulu.com.

Follow the inauguration on your iPhone

Tomorrow is a big day, and there are many ways to watch the Presidential Inauguration. You can watch it on TV, on Hulu, Joost, the Presidential Inaugural Committee’s web site, Ustream, and a variety of other places. However, what if you’re not near a television/computer? Easy; you’ll be able to hear the inauguration tomorrow using Talk Radio, an application designed for the iPhone that runs for $2.

Boxee, now with Hulu!

Not so very long ago, I gave a preview of Boxee, a media center for your Mac, Linux, or AppleTV based setup. Though I loved the idea, there were some major criticisms that prevented me from using it as my main media program.

Well, this week Boxee has a new version out that has cleaned up the UI, and added support for Hulu, Comedy Central, and CBS.com full episodes. After the break, I outline what they’ve fixed and what still needs working on.

Appletell preview: Boxee for Mac Alpha

Boxee is a new application for the Mac that is much like Front Row, only better—in theory. It is an open source effort, meaning that plug-ins can be added and it can be modified by others besides the developers. It is currently in a private alpha stage, and I just so happen to be a private alpha member, and I figured I should bring a preview to you.

iPhone/ iPod Touch-compatible Hulu coming soon?

MacRumors.com is reporting that Hulu, the joint venture between NBC and FOX, is planning an iPhone and iPod Touch compatible version of the site to be released as early as Thursday. MacRumors stresses that this is an anonymous tip, which means it is not very reliable. An iPhone compatible site is technically feasible, because Hulu more »
