Illusion Labs releases Touchgrind on Mac for free

Today, Illusion Labs released Touchgrind for Mac on the Mac App Store. You may already be familiar with the iPhone and iPad versions of this game. The game is one of the best uses of the multitouch capabilities of iOS devices. Now you can experience it in full screen glory on your Mac. And thanks to the success of this game on iOS, they’ve decided to release it free of charge.

iPhone Appidemic: Touchgrind BMX

Illusion Labs is a name you should know if you have an iOS device and like extreme sports. They made Touchgrind, a multitouch skateboarding game. It also happens to be one of my favorite games on iOS. Now they’re back at it with similar mechanics, but a different extreme sport. Touchgrind BMX is all about bikes, and not just BMX bikes, as the name would suggest. No, Illusion Labs wants you to be busting some mad tricks on a cute little red tricycle.

You have an iPad, but clearly not enough apps or games. Where to start? Illusion Labs’ Labyrinth 2 HD. It takes the tested marble maze gameplay of the iPhone version and translates it perfectly for a larger screen. That means more area, obstacles, challenge and fun. Plus, with user creatable levels, there’s a nearly endless amount of content waiting for you. $8 is easily justified for this table tilter.

Touchgrind has always been one of my favorite games for iPhone because of its wonderful use of multitouch. The only problem with the game was that the screen area of an iPhone is a bit small to really see where you are going while two of your fingers and a mini skateboard take up most of the screen. Wouldn’t it be great if this game could be played on a larger device? Oh yeah, thanks to Apple, you can do that now with iPad and Touchgrind HD from Illusion Labs.

Appletell review – Touchgrind for iPhone

Touchgrind is a very different sort of game than what is common on the App Store. It’s part game and part simulation. The idea is simple, place two fingers on a virtual skateboard deck and perform tricks as if playing with a tech deck style miniature skateboard. What’s great about this game is that it’s simple enough to immediately be fun, but complicated enough to require practice. Thankfully, that practice is fun, and possibly even rewarding.
