Consider it a tough day when you sneeze so hard that your very soul is hurled out of your body. Consider it even tougher when you learn the only way to get it back is to scare the various citizens of Monster Town. Sound like a fun game concept? It is, but that’s not this game. That’s Gabrielle’s Ghostly Groove for Nintendo 3DS. This is Gabrielle’s Monster Match for iOS, a match-style game that manages to retain the charm of its predecessor despite its more basic gameplay.

Just as Mass Effect 2 got its own iOS game to tie-in from Electronic Arts with the traditional console counterparts, Mass Effect 3 will be going down the same road. This game in development, entitled “Mass Effect Infiltrator,” will reward the player within the console versions of Mass Effect 3 rather than just telling a character’s background story, as the Mass Effect 2 tie-in did.

You come up with an idea for a game, spend time and money developing it, and put it on the App Store with some success only to find that someone has ripped off your hard work and made a copycat. Fortunately, Apple has responded to this problem by removing the copycats from the App Store, much to the delight of the original developers.

CAPCOM has been doing a tremendous job of bringing many of their A-list console and handheld games to Apple’s iDevices. We’ve got forms of Resident Evil, after all. We’ve got Street Fighter, Devil May Cry and even Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. And now, CAPCOM has brought us a puzzle adventure game that’s as at home on the iPhone or iPad as it was on the Nintendo DS: Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective.

The International Mobile Gaming Awards has announced the thirty games in six categories that are moving to the final round of judging before the 8th annual awards ceremony on March 1st in Barcelona. The winners in each category will receive 100,000 € of advertising from ProSieben Sat1 Games, a leading publisher for international online games, and the best overall game will receive 400,000 € of advertising.

Hopefully, you fought in the Legendary Wars last year on Apple’s iDevices. The undead forces of the Netherworld were attacking, after all, and it was up to you to save Legendaria from their onslaught. Tremendous fun. The iOS version has been optimized for touch screen control and a wider viewing area with enhanced graphics for more immersive puzzle solving.

February is upon is, and I can think of no better time to check out G5′s February gaming releases. You? Casual gamers will have plenty from which to choose, including strategy and adventure games, the sequel to a fan-favorite, and a Valentine’s update to a hit city-builder.
