Cloud gaming coming to the iPad this fall with OnLive
OnLive has previously teased bringing their mini-console for cloud gaming to iOS and Android, but this video demo shows us that it’s actually going to happen. The final version of the OnLive Player app coming to the iPad and Android tablet devices has been completely re-written to add support for its many cloud-based features, such as online multiplayer and voice chat.
ThinkGeek Joystick-It iPad joystick review
Does the iPad’s lack of physical controls have you a bit bummed at times, especially when playing games? I feel your pain. ThinkGeek has a product called the Joystick-It, which attempts to solve this problem for some arcade style games. It’s a joystick that works with the touch screen of the iPad, making it into a mini arcade. But can an accessory like this actually replicate the feel or enhanced gameplay of a real joystick?
Fling analog joystick for iPad review
After using Fling for a month now, I really want to tell you that if you’re at all serious about iPad gaming, you need one of these. Two of them, even. But in doing so, I would be misleading you slightly. This is because your need for Fling will depend entirely upon your game library. If you’re more about casual games, you’ll have no nee for this. But if you know what a virtual d-pad is, you need Fling. In fact, you need two.
ThinkGeek announces special edition iCADE
Just as promised by ION Audio, ThinkGeek has announced their special edition of the iCADE complete with retro graphics. Functionally, it’s the same as ION Audio’s recently announced iCADE. It also costs the same at $99.99. But the outside has a bit different vibe, and you get points for supporting other geeks online right?
CES 2011: Tactile gaming feedback for iPad
Here’s one I’m quite curious to try out, as I’m sure anyone is who’s tried to play an action game on the iPad. Ten One Design has announced its tactile game controller for iPad: Fling. The patent pending device can be attached to the iPad’s screen to deliver much more precise control and response. No more losing control of your character because your thumb unwittingly slipped off the virtual d-pad.
World of Warcraft to come to the iPad?
Like World of Warfcraft? Like the iPad? Well, perhaps the two will soon meet. As a photo on the internet shows, David Perry, a game developer, was able to find WOW on a Gaikai server streaming over Wifi to the iPad. And it looks cool. While we know this means it obviously isn’t using Flash, it will certainly be interesting to see not only what it is using but whether there will be a way for WOW users to play it on their iPad.
The Ten games I most want to play on the iPad (Part 2)
Apple only last week started accepting iPad optimized app submissions, so who knows if our favorite games will be ready to go by April 3rd? Of course, that doesn’t prevent us from getting our hopes up. Last week, I offered a list of five games I’ve played on the iPhone that I’m now excited about playing on the iPad. In this article, I’ll list the five I’ve not yet played but certainly will when (if) an iPad version is made available.
Ten games I most want to play on the iPad (Part 1)
Although PCWorld would consider me an “idiot,” and our friends at Gamertell believe I’m setting myself up for failure, I’m still looking forward to getting my iPad on April 3rd, and I’m looking forward to playing games on it. Will the larger iPad screen improve touchscreen accuracy? Will the accelerometer still be logical in a device that big? I’m looking forward to finding out, and I’ll be using these iPhone games for my test run.
Can the iPad surpass the iPhone (and PSP Go) for mobile gaming?
The iPad doesn’t even have a release date yet, and the mobile maniacs are worried about gaming on the newest portable wonder. So, will it be better then on iPhone? This Mac fanatic thinks it will thanks to a bigger display, a more powerful processor with the ability to handle more complex and longer titles, and a larger touch surface that allows for multiple inputs at the same time.
