Avid challenges iMovie for iPad with Avid Studio
If anyone’s going to step up and challenge Apple for the iPad video editing throne, it may as well be Avid. The company has decades of experience working closely with the world’s leading movie and television studios, and has leveraged that experience to create Avid Studio for the iPad, an app they claim is “… easy enough for first-timers, yet sophisticated enough for more advanced editors.”
First video looks: iPad unboxing
It’s April 3rd 2010. Do you know where your iPad is? I do. It’s right here, well the first one is anyway. I thought I’d do an unboxing for you, just in case you missed out on the fun today, though I suppose it won’t help much. This will probably just make you want one more. And if you’re waiting for that 3G iPad, well, I feel your pain, but I respect your decision and restraint. Let’s get to it.
iPad: Second Impressions (Internet and Apps)
Now that I’ve had my (or, more accurately, my wife’s) iPad for a while, I’ve been able to dig a bit deeper into its functionality. It deserves to be repeated that the screen is gorgeous; you’ll recognize that right away. Remember how looking at the iPhone screen suddenly made every other cell phone’s display technology feel like it hadn’t advanced beyond 1986? The iPad’s HD display does the same thing to the iPhone. But there was a problem.
Walt Mossberg reviews the iPad
Why is it that in the three days leading up to all major Apple product releases I wish the Wall Street Journal’s Walt Mossberg was my dad? Or at least my neighbor? His latest video over at All Things Digital will answer that question. He’s holding the iPad, you see. He’s used it. He’s played with it. And now, he wants to share his experiences with you. Check it out, and see how important he feels the iPad will be.
iPad Keynote condensed to 3 minutes; full of great, awesome, and beautiful
Although Apple has posted the video of Steve Jobs’ media presentation last week, it may be a little lengthy for most of us. This is especially true considering most of the content in that video is a surplus of demos. But if you do still want to see a little bit of what you missed, Neil Curtis has edited together just what you need. Past the break is his under-three-minute clip of the presentation. And yes, it’s meant to be humorous.
Apple Special Event video now available
By now, you no doubt want an iPad, but the only things you’ll get for the next 60 to 90 days are images, videos and information that will just make you want it more. Apple wasted little time by posting their first iPad walkthrough video, and now you can stream the entire event. I’m going to go watch it now, and I’m sure you’ll join me by doing the same.
“Meet the iPad” video
Though as of this writing the iPad is not yet available for preorder at the Apple Store, you can watch the introductory video at the Apple website. The video discusses the ideas behind the iPad, its construction, and its use, focusing on the tactile nature of holding it (in any direction you like; “there’s no wrong way to hold it” being a repeated phrase), and using your fingers, rather than an intermediary device, to use it.
