GroveMade’s handcrafted bamboo cases certainly aren’t for everyone (and even if the aesthetic had universal appeal, the $69-$119 price tag is sure to scare off a good number of potential customers). But this…this is the iPhone case I’ve been looking for. It’s organic. It’s gorgeous. It goes a long way toward alleviating that discombobulating disconnect between the fact that my phone was churned out in a factory and the fact that it indelibly feels like mine.

Those with an iPhone 4S or who are still holding on to their iPhone 4 might want to consider giving your beloved phone some well deserved protection. By protection I mean solid protection without undermining style. The Kraken II case is a tough looking case offering three-layers of protection. It has impact-insulating silicone, a durable polycarbonate shell and a high quality screen protector. The case also features double-enhanced corners, which has been a trademark of Trident cases.

If you’ve owned your iPhone for a while, you’ve likely settled upon the types of cases you enjoy and the types you avoid. For the iPhone 4, there’s a particular design of hard case I like, and I have yet to come across a bumper style case that didn’t in some way disappoint me. The ToughSkin Case for iPhone 4 breaks two or three of my rules for iPhone case design, but it does so with gusto, so I’m not going to fault it for that. It’s about protection, after all, and that’s pretty much it. And yet there are a few design elements here that clearly indicate the developers understand protection is kind of pointless if it renders the phone unusable.

I like that some companies are willing to take a different approach to gadget protection. Silicone and plastic models have their place, sure, but they’re hard to get excited about anymore. That’s not the situation with RokForm’s Rokbed Aluminum iPhone 4 cover. This is certainly not for everyone, but I have a feeling it’ll find its audience.

Now this is just lazy designing. Or maybe we’ll call it old school. Remember when the first iPod was released and accessories starting crawling out of the primordial ooze? Pretty much all of them were just varying colors of silicone back then. That’s what iLuv’s Spectrum Silicone Case is…basic, boring iPhone 4 protection. Everything about this case is just kind of okay.

If you’ve ever taken video with your iPhone 4, or another equally light device, you’ve likely noticed how hard it is to keep it stable. The Steadicam Smoothee is an expensive solution to this problem that can definitely keep your videos from bouncing around, and in the right hands, it can make your video look professional. At $180, it’s one of the most expensive holders you can buy for the iPhone 4, but if you’re serious about taking video with it, it may prove itself invaluable.
