Best Buy to offer invisibleSHIELD 4fix for free to iPhone 4 users?

Having serious problems with your iPhone 4′s reception related to the death grip maneuver? If so, Best Buy and invisibleSHIELD would like to help. It’s not cold hard fact yet, but there are some pretty convincing images floating around that show they’re teaming up to offer the invisibleSHIELD 4fix free to any iPhone 4 user, regardless of where you purchased it.

Apple launches iPhone 4 free case program

Apple’s iPhone 4 Case Program is now live. Yes, that means you can finally request your free case from Apple to help solve the antenna issue you probably aren’t experiencing right now anyway. Anything for a free case though, right? You can visit Apple’s iPhone 4 Case Program site for full details, but here’s how it works…

I’ll believe Apple when I see iPhone 5

It’s a pretty convenient position when Apple advertises a product as “magic,” “revolutionary” and “unique,” and when things go south, it turns out it’s just a phone. If you take expectations to the roof and drive public opinion into the idea of Apple making space-tech-based devices, then you have to take judgment and criticisms like the multi-billion dollar company you are, and not like the man who justifies his faults by signaling the neighbor’s mistakes.

Anandtech details iOS 4.0.1′s new signal bars

On top of literally making iPhone signal bars one, two, and three larger on their meter display, Apple has also changed what amount of the signal spectrum each of those bars represents. This new signal mapping will only make the “death grip” cause a drop of two bars, not the complete signal. According to reports, the worst loss with the death grip was a 24 dBm signal loss

iPhone 4 signal bars to rise in first iOS update

Are those taller signal bars in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me? As we reported yesterday, Apple’s iOS 4.1 beta has been seeded to developers. Among other updates, the reception formula has been corrected and the lowest three signal bars are taller; the lowest by 100%. That’s, like, twice as much reception, right?

Will Apple recall the iPhone 4?

Apple hasn’t done much to address the iPhone 4 reception issue. In fact, they’ve done almost nothing. Aside from issuing a press release stating that all phones have reception issues when touched near the antenna, Apple has also made it clear they won’t be appeasing complaining customers with new Bumpers. But this is a very real problem for the company, so the question remains; will Apple issue a recall of the iPhone 4?

iPhone 4 reception problems, apologies and a better idea

As has been covered ad nauseum, it seems that holding the iPhone 4 a certain way can lower reception by up to four or five bars. Late last week, Apple released a letter to iPhone 4 users regarding this. Their explanation? Basically, your reception always sucked, you just didn’t know it. A better idea than a half-hearted apology from Apple, we think, would be to offer all iPhone 4 users a free Apple Bumper.
