iAd platform chases Google for mobile ad market share
According to estimates from BusinessWeek, Apple is poised to hold a nicely sized 21% of the mobile ad market share by the end of the year. If this estimate turns out accurate, Apple would be right up there with Google as one of the top two players in this space. While Google purchased AdMob as part of their initiative to own the mobile ad marketplace, Apple’s somewhat recently announced iAd platform has caught steam quickly.
How will iAds change the iPhone app user experience?
Today, Apple CEO announced “iAds,” part of iPhone OS 4; software for developers to make it easier to put ads in their applications. And for the first time while watching an Apple product announcement, I felt sick to my stomach. I don’t mind ads. Ads should exist. They’re a great way to make a program “free” (as in beer) to download. iAds, however, makes me extremely nervous, and has a lot of unanswered questions.
Rumor: Apple to enter the mobile advertising market on Thursday?
Can you remember back at the beginning of the year when we heard the news that Apple had acquired the mobile advertisement company, Quattro Wireless? Well, the rumor mill is heating up once again, as “sources familiar with the company’s plans” have stated that Apple plans to unveil a mobile advertising system for the iPhone OS during tomorrow’s media event.
More iPhone ads appear on Apple’s website and TVs worldwide
Apple loves to keep their ad pages up to date with commercials that reflect the current states of their products. And considering how simple their advertisements seem to be, they probably don’t take all that much time to produce (especially considering they all have the same basic concept of just a hand and an iPhone). Now, Apple is at it again with three more iPhone advertisements spotlighting some of the most useful functions and applications of the device.
Where’s Verizon’s attack ad tag partner?
We reported this week that Apple has stepped into the AT&T vs. Verizon match which has been going on for the past few weeks now. Two new iPhone ads ambiguously (but clearly) take shots at Verizon while advertising AT&T’s unique features, such as the ability to handle voice and data connections simultaneously on AT&T’s 3G network—something that Verizon is incapable of and that AT&T has been using against the company in their own set of attack ads.
New iPhone commercials highlight more useful apps
Apple has created and is now airing three more of their clever iPhone commercials. These three ads are no different than all of the prior ads that showcase some of the most helpful applications available on the iPhone. The first ad is titled “Student,” and shows how the iPhone can help a student in a new place and at a new school. The second ad, which is called “Itchy,” shows how apps can help you when you’re out and about. The third ap, entitled “Office,” shows how the iPhone can help in the working environment.
Two new Apple ads appear on Apple’s website, feature numerous apps
As if Apple hasn’t already launched enough iPhone ads, they have introduced two more this week. These ads, entitled Fix and Read, are much like the typical ads in that they only contain the iPhone and that perfect hand. However, they are a little different in what they discuss. Instead of featuring just one application like previous ads, they focus on the ideas that are made clear in the titles of the ads. Throughout the commercial, they feature a couple of different applications that help get various tasks done. If you ask me, it’s a great way of showing how useful the iPhone is simply due to all of the extra features that can be created using the App Store.
Three new iPhone 3G ads (or “Apple, get it together”)
The crap parade continues down the street of Apple advertisements, as Apple releases three new iPhone 3G ads that suck even more than the first batch. They are all the same voice over: “This is how you enter the App Store. And this is how you browse over 1,000 new apps. And this is how you download one, right to your phone. And this is when you realize, this is going to change everything.” The difference between the three exists solely in the app they download; Cro Mag Rally in one, Vicinity in another, and Lonely Planet English to Mandarin Phrasebook.

Three new iPhone 3G ads
Apple is at it again with three new iPhone 3G ads. This time around, they are much more like the original iPhone ads and less like the first iPhone 3G ad. Two of the three ads, Everyone and Unslow, really push (pardon the pun) the idea of 3G and how it is twice as fast as the original iPhone’s EDGE network speeds. The third commercial is called Work Friendly and talks about the iPhone’s ability to “push” calendars, e-mail, and work contacts to the cloud almost instantly.

Rare iPhone print ads
In this digital age we live in, print media is certainly facing rapid decline, so it’s rare to see Apple ads in print. Nevertheless, MacDailyNews has spotted an iPhone ad on the back cover of the August 2007 edition of Details Magazine. The copy reads: “Touch is believing; the revolutionary new iPhone is now available more »
