Free alternatives to Apple’s alarm app

If you were a proud iPhone owner on January 1st, there’s a very high chance that you overslept your phone’s alarm. Why? Because for a reason unknown to man, one-off alarms decided against completing their duties, causing many people around the world to have a late start to the year. Thankfully, Clock.app is not your only option for a wake up call each and every morning.

Where we stand now: Ups and downs of Apple’s App Store

Ever since its release, the App Store has brought both good and bad PR to Apple and the iPhone. However, as a much anticipated update to the iPhone software, one would expect a lot of complaints if it wasn’t perfect the first go around. And it wasn’t. Despite that, Apple has managed to pull some magic and turn the App Store into the great piece of software that we know it as today. It can still be argued, though, that this store has both helped and hurt Apple in a few different ways. This article will discuss those up and downs.

After the break, we will discuss those up and downs.

Here’s hoping the September event fixes everything.

With the given that there will be a September Apple event, we can now turn to what that event might bring. Of course, everyone’s gone over the new stuff: new iPods, MacBook updates, and all that good stuff. However, we also should turn an eye to fixing what’s already out there. A whole lot is broken.

Check the list after the break.

iPhone Firmware 2.0.1 is Live!

Apple has just unleashed the latest iPhone and iPod Touch firmware update to the interwebs. The update is said to address numerous “Bug fixes.” It’s 249MB, and that’s about as much detail as can be found right now. There are no specifics as to what bugs are being fixed, but with all the crashes iPhone users have been having with the 2.0 firmware and apps, this will be a welcomed update.

If you want to get some update action, sync your iPhone (or iPod Touch) to iTunes, hit the “Check for Update” button, then click “Download and Install.” Then, you have to agree to the terms and sit back and watch the bugs drop dead inside of your iPhone. Well, bugs don’t really die, they get fixed (hopefully). Anyway, I’m hoping this will bring an end to the unexplainable and all too frequent crashes of the 2.0 firmware.

Find out more about what it does after the break.

Apple to fix iPhone battery bug

Apple’s iPhone is currently plagued with an annoying software bug that causes the handsets to report an incomplete battery charge even though charging is complete. “Your battery is fully charged, but the UI (User Interface) is just not correctly reflecting this,” an Apple spokesperson told WirelessInfo. “We expect to fix this in a software update.” more »
