GoPano Micro for iPhone 4/4S review
The world exists in 360º, so why should your photographs and movies be limited to the tiny sliver that your iPhone’s camera captures? With the GoPano Micro panoramic lens and GoPano’s companion iOS App, you can shoot, share, and explore the world around you in a whole new way. The panoramic lens attachment coupled with the free app build a great experience for shooting and sharing 360º panoramic videos.
Camera Plus Pro gets “soft flash” for birthday
Camera Plus Pro—one of my favorite camera apps for the iPhone and iPod touch—celebrated its 2nd birthday in the App Store this weekend by offering gifts to its users, especially those using the iPod touch and iPhone 3GS. These devices don’t have basic flash functionality, and Camera Plus Pro v4.3 looks to address this with its new live Soft Flash feature.
Add retro style to your photos with Vintage Camera Pro
You may not be able to recapture those magical Christmas mornings of your youth, but you can sure make it look like you have with Vintage Camera from Presslite. Available in both paid and limited free versions, Vintage Camera allows you to add fully original and striking effects to your photos and give them style. More specifically, the faded and discolored style of those old photos you’ll find in shoeboxes in your parents’ closet.
Enhancing photos in iOS 5
In iOS 5, Apple added editing features to the Camera app on your iOS devices. The features allow you to enhance your photos without having to transfer them to iPhoto on the Mac. The Camera app now includes four basic functions: Enhance, Red-Eye removal, Rotate, and Crop. I noticed during my testing that once your enhanced image gets saved, it over-writes the original; there is no option to reset your photograph to its original state.
New iPhone 4S commercials focus on iCloud, camera and Siri
Apple has started airing more commercials showcasing their new products. This time around, they focused on the new 8 megapixel camera, its ability to record 1080p, photo camera editing, and iCloud. And, of course, more attention is paid to the most talked about feature of the iPhone 4S: Siri, the personal voice-activated-assistant.
Camera Plus Pro v4 offers live video/photo filters, 30x faster
Camera Plus Pro, one of our favorite camera apps for iPhone, has been updated to v4 with a new camera engine that’s 30x faster, according to developer Global Delight. The update brings with it live photo and video filters, a UI makeover and the resurrection of the jerk-free Smooth Zoom Feature. Camera Plus Pro v4 is compatible with iPhone 3G/3GS, iPhone 4 and iPod touch with camera.
Timestamp your photos with Stampr for jailbroken iPhones
Unfortunately, a key feature that Apple has excluded from iOS and its Camera app is the ability to timestamp your photos. A solution for those with jailbroken iDevices comes from developer Maximus as Stampr, an unofficial third-party tweak that timestamps your photos taken with the stock Camera app. Stampr allows your iDevice to make two copies of a photo that you take, one with a timestamp and one without.
iPhone Appidemic: Camera+
Can we just admit that the default Camera app for iPhone is merely okay? It takes pictures, it takes video, you can turn the flash on, and while the new HDR option is an improvement, it’s hardly up to the Insanely Great standard you’d expect from Apple. Of course, there’s no shortage of camera apps, but Camera+ is one that expands on the basic interface while also staying out of your way when you need it to.
Photojojo brings their 8X telephoto lens to iPhone 4
I’ve heard it said that the best camera is the one you have with you. Can the same be said for the telephoto lens? The folks at Photojojo think so, as they’ve shown with their Telephoto Zoom Lens for iPhones 3 and (soon) 4. This case/lens combo “…gives [your] humble cell phone shots uber zoom-tastic telephoto powers (8x the powers to be exact).”
OmniVision’s new 8 MP sensor likely to take full HD video on next iPhone
I’m sure you’ve heard of OmniVision before. If not, you’ve likely used one of their products. They’ve made every camera sensor for every model of iPhone to date. That’s why when they unveil something like the OV8820, we pretty much expect it to get soldered onto the next iPhone. So, why don’t we take a look at the features we might be seeing at a special event in Cupertino, just a few months early?
