Apple updates iPhone firmware to version 2.2.1

It must be the day for Apple updates. First the MacBook, then iLife ’08 and iLife ’09, now the iPhone! Who knows, maybe that Apple TV update isn’t too far off. It seems like mostly bug fixes, no major updates. I wonder if this doesn’t have something to do with compatibility with iLife ’09? I say it’s likely. To get the update, connect your iPhone and go to its section in iTunes. Click “Check for Updates” and act like a yes man to all the prompts.

iPhone updated to Firmware 2.2 right on schedule

Just as rumored, Apple has released the 2.2 firmware update to the iPhone. The update includes all of the rumored features and more.

Firmware 2.2 coming to an iPhone near you on November 21?

iPhone Hellas claims they have reliable information pointing to the scheduled release date for iPhone firmware 2.2.

Once we received the following information from the insider and convey to each subject:

“The iPhone OS v2.2 will be given in circulation on 21 November’08.”

I love Google translate, it adds that special touch that only a machine can.

There are a bunch of features and updates to look forward to in iPhone Firmware 2.2…

What to expect in upcoming iPhone firmware 2.2

As soon as one firmware update is released by Apple, the first thing to do is start waiting for the next one. iPhone 2.1 is great, but no matter what, we’ll always want more. In fact, I can think of one specific feature that’s driving a lot of people crazy…Copy and Paste! Sadly, it’s not on the list, but did you really think it would be? It’s such a simple feature, but you know it’s going to be huge when it finally makes it’s way on to the iPhone. While we’re waiting for that, at least we’ll be treated to some new features in the not too distant future.

iPhone Firmware 2.2 Beta 1 seeded to developers

It seems Apple has fixed most of the large problems with the iPhone’s firmware with the iPhone 2.1 release, but they are by no means stopping there. Apple has seeded firmware 2.2 beta 1 to developers, but it’s unclear as to what is different.

Along with the beta firmware comes the newest build of the iPhone SDK (build 9M2611). The firmware is labeled with “compatibility testing,” but that’s the only clue. Whether push notifications have made their way into this build is also unclear. But, according to the latest supposed e-mail from Steve, it’s on their minds.

We’re running a bit late. We want to get it 100% right the first time.

iPhone firmware 2.1 first impressions

Today I witnessed the impossible. My iPhone synced (sunc?) with my computer in less that four minutes. The new firmware certainly has some improvements that are evident from the get go.

Today, Apple released the promised iPhone firmware 2.1 update right on time. They also provided a little more detail as to just what it does.

Apple is promising big things with the new iPhone. Though, they pretty much jumped right over it.

iPhone firmware 2.0.2 update explained

What’s the deal with the iPhone 3G? I mean, I updated it and I’m still dropping calls like U.S. Olympic batons!

Bad Seinfeld jokes aside, Roughly Drafted has some information from “a source close to AT&T” as to why you may have updated your iPhone 3G and still don’t have your reception problems fixed.

Check it out after the break.

Had bad 3G reception before? Firmware 2.0.2 gets rid of it completely…

For many users, firmware update 2.0.2 was supposed to be the fix for 3G reception issues. I say supposed to be, because apparently, instead of fixing the iPhone’s hefty signal strength requirements for 3G, it makes that already bad reception worse for some users.

According to iPhoneAtlas, some 3G users are unable to get wireless access of any sort without disabling the option for 3G. Here’s what an Apple Discussions poster had to say:

I use to get 1-3 bars of 3g service in my house and now I cant make a call… I have to switch off the 3G to get any bars Things are going the wrong way!

More after the break.

iPhone firmware 2.0.2 is out!

The latest update from Apple for the iPhone is available on iTunes. Now the iPhone has made it up to version 2.0.2. So what does it do? Apple lists bug fixes as the only change. I have a feeling this is the fabled 3G reception software fix that was rumored about earlier. And since Apple more »
