There are generally about 100 movies per category, and dozens of categories, so there are plenty of titles from the 1930s up to the present from which to choose. Unfortunately, some odd category listings and the omission of some movies hamper the app’s overall usefulness.

You can now make your own retro movies on the iPhone using the Super 8 app, which is free for a limited time. Super 8, the upcoming film directed by JJ Abrams and produced by Steven Spielberg, involves children in the 70s making a movie with, of course, a Super 8mm camera. The app features lots of vintage recording effects, like film scratches, different lenses, and film shake.
