iOS 4 favorite feature and biggest letdown

iOS 4 is finally here, and it is certainly worth the upgrade. Or is it? Regardless of whether you are updating your device, iOS 4 certainly does have plenty of great, new features…as long as you have an iPhone 3GS or will have an iPhone 4. Perhaps one of the biggest let downs about this version of the iOS is that multitasking is being left out of first gen iPhones and the iPhone 3G.

WWDC 2010: iPhone OS 4 renamed to iOS 4, more features

Perhaps some of the most interesting news surrounding the iPhone operating system out of WWDC this year was the renaming of iPhone OS 4 to iOS 4. While Steve didn’t give a reason, I can assume it will make it easier to remember, write, and say. During the keynote, Steve reiterated some of features we already knew existed. There’s…

iPhone OS 4.0 Beta 4 sheds light on new features

Apple just unleashed a new beta version of iPhone OS 4.0 to developers, and Beta 4 is more than just a bug fix update. It brings with it new features and information about future Apple products such as support for AT&T tethering, LED flash, Mac OS X v10.7 and more. “Rethink possible.” That is AT&T’s new slogan, part of an effort to rebrand the company not as a provider of telephone, TV, and internet service, but as a company of innovation. Innovation entails providing solutions that are not just new, but meet needs or solve problems in a better way than what came before. Here’s some news for you Ma Bell; people’s communication needs are changing.

How will iAds change the iPhone app user experience?

Today, Apple CEO announced “iAds,” part of iPhone OS 4; software for developers to make it easier to put ads in their applications. And for the first time while watching an Apple product announcement, I felt sick to my stomach. I don’t mind ads. Ads should exist. They’re a great way to make a program “free” (as in beer) to download. iAds, however, makes me extremely nervous, and has a lot of unanswered questions.

Live blog of Apple’s January 27th media event

After nearly two years of rumor and speculation, it seems the clamor for an Apple tablet will finally be met with an official announcement. Will it finally arrive? Will we also see updates to the iPhone OS? The iPhone itself (additional carriers beyond AT&T, perhaps)? How about iWork and iLife? To find out, join us on Wednesday as we begin our live coverage at 9:00 a.m. PST.

Apple’s January 27th event rumor roundup

Apple is about to prove once and for all just how much they really don’t need Macworld, but what can you expect from Apple during their special event on Wednesday, January 27th? Here’s a roundup of the more substantial rumors we’ve covered over the past few weeks, including talk of the Apple tablet, iPhone OS 4.0, the 4th gen iPhone and the possibility of additional carriers.
