BGR sources claim Apple will soon release iOS 5

BGR says that according to their trusted sources, iOS 5 beta 8 will be released this Friday, September 16th, followed by the gold master on September 23rd. We are just about due for a new beta, so this theory seems on target with other rumors swirling around the blogosphere for an iPhone october launch date. This announcement is the next best thing to getting an actual release date for iOS 5, since a “golden master,” in software terms, is essentially the finished product.

Apple releases iOS 5 Beta 7 to developers

Apple has made available a seventh beta release of iOS 5 to developers for an over-the-air-update download. New features are non-existent; it just offers a few bug fixes and stability improvements. It is the fourth version of Apple’s beta software to be delivered over-the-air to devices, a new feature that Apple touted this year at WWDC. It is being speculated that Apple’s next iOS 5 release might actually be a GM (Golden Master) build.

iPhone HD will record video at 720P

Not only is the next generation of iPhone rumored to have a 5MP camera chip in it, it supposedly will record video at 720p. Apple buys maker of popular iPhone personal assistant app Siri

This just in, Apple has acquired Siri, Inc., makers of the popular Siri personal assistant app for iPhone. The app uses Nuance voice recognition to find restaurants, movies, events, businesses and more at your request. It can even do some pretty complicated things such as convert your speech into text and then pass it along to someone in your address book. Terms of the offer from Apple haven’t been disclosed, but a managing director at Siri said, “It was a no-brainer to accept it.”
