Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing for iOS review

I’m not into racing at all. Never really have been. But I don’t mind kart racers because they give you more to do. You get to throw stuff. There are explosions. The environments are fun. In short, they’re enjoyable, and Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing may be the most enjoyable kart racer available for the iPad and iPhone.

Father’s Day weekend sale for Real Racing 1 and 2

Okay, so Firemint doesn’t specifically call this a Father’s Day sale, but it’s happening on Father’s Day weekend, and dads do like racing, right? Some of them, maybe? If so, here’s your chance to pick up two of the biggest selling racing games for Apple’s iDevices—Real Racing and Real Racing 2—at “massive savings.”

iPhone Appidemic: Fumes Stunt Racer

Have you ever wanted to experience the thrill of racing and potentially crashing without the dangerous effects of actually crashing a car? Well, as with almost everything in life, this feeling can now be replicated on your iPhone thanks to the ever so familiar expression, there’s an app for that. Fumes Stunt Racer is a “thrilling retro-inspired 3D precision driving game” meant to challenge the drivers skills and make use of real physics and gravity to make the driving more realistic.

Firement releases Real Racing 2 video preview

Earlier this month, Firemint announced are were close to bringing Real Racing 2 to the iPhone. If you’ve never played Real Racing, you’ve likely seen it…it’s the racing game Apple likes to show off in their iDevice commercials. Jake Gaecke wrote our Real Racing review, giving it a 4 out of 5 rating. So, what can we expect from Real Racing 2? Well, real cars for starters. Check the video after the break.

Appletell reviews Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 2 for iPhone, iPod touch

Kart racers suffer from “sameness.” There’s really not a whole lot to separate one from the other; pretty much just track design and characters. But when they’re done right, they can be quite fun. The latest I’ve played is Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 2, and it gets enough right to rise above much of the competition.

App it Up: Future Racer

Future Racer is exactly what you expect it to be from its title. Like futuristic racing games of the past, you’re piloting a zero gravity craft through wonderfully rendered race tracks that are as much fun to look at as they are to race through. The lack of multiplayer racing seems shortsighted, but racing fans will have a blast with the single player action while it lasts.

App it Up: Krazy Kart Racers

Krazy Kart Racers, like every cart racing game before it, involves driving through ridiculous race tracks while heaving objects at your opponents (and avoiding theirs in the process). The games are as much about personality as they are about racing, and Krazy Kart Racers is quite successful there. WiFi multiplayer is fantastic, but there’s alto enough variety in the tracks to keep single player racers entertained for quite some time.

Appletell reviews All Pro Crash Off Road for iPhone, iPod Touch

mmmJuice software has created an iPhone game that features dirt racing as well as destructible vehicles. The name of the game is All Pro Crash Offroad. It is currently available in the App Store for a slim $1.99, which I believe to be low for a game of this quality. It is one of the first iPhone games to which I’ve become addicted, which is saying something.

Freeverse wants you to see the Thunder

Personally, I think if you’re going to bring a racing game to the iPhone that’s based on a movie, you should go with Six Pack starring Kenny Rogers, Diane Lane and Wilma from Buck Rogers. But Freeverse made what’s likely the wiser choice by bringing us Paramount’s Days of Thunder, full of “Explosions, twisted metal and enemies …” because a stock car racing game without explosions and enemies is…well…turning left.

Freeverse offers 99 cent SlotZ Racer for iPhone, iPod touch for 3 days only

In what appears to be an attempt to remind me of all the toys I never got as a kid, Freeverse has announced the release of SlotZ Racer for the iPhone and iPod touch. Developed by Strange Flavour, “… SlotZ Racer puts the thrill of realistic 3D slot cars in the palm of your hand. Relive those great childhood memories of building tracks, burning rubber, and racing with your friends and family!” Yeah, unless your family never bought you the big track you wanted because they had to pay for your brother’s braces. Thanks a lot, Freeverse. Jerks.
