Rumor: Verizon iPhone all but confirmed with NYC event
Although it wasn’t by December of 2010, it appears as if the iPhone is actually coming to Verizon for real this time. What makes me say that? M.G. Siegler, a self proclaimed Apple fanboy for TechCrunch, received an invite to a Verizon event in New York City for Tuesday, January 11th. Who didn’t? Gizmodo, even though they usually do get invites to Verizon events. Could the stars be aligning?
Rumor: iPhone 4G screen to be 960×640
A report from the Czech site SuperiPhone.cz claims the iPhone 4G will have a 960×640 IPS display that comes in at 320 pixels per inch. In comparison, this is much more than the HTC HD2 (217 ppi), the Verizon/Motorola Droid (265 ppi) and Google’s Nexus One (252 ppi). While the Google Nexus One phone uses a “PenTile” grid which arranges smaller green pixels between red and blue ones, the iPhone will feature a uniform grid of red, green, and blue.
AT&T confirmed to have iPhone exclusivity through 2012
According to documents released from a California class action lawsuit, it has been confirmed that AT&T has iPhone exclusivity until the year 2012. While this was the initial agreement reached between Apple and the company back in 2007 when the first iPhone launched, there has been no word on whether the terms were ever renegotiated. This means a couple of things, including the fact that we most likely won’t be seeing that Verizon iPhone we were hoping for this summer.
iPhone 4G launch day to be June 7th?
This year’s World Wide Developer Conference held by Apple is set to kick off June 7th and continue through June 11th. Coincidentally, rumors of a new iPhone as its launch day are also on the horizon. And according to Mashable’s “sources familiar with the situation,” this June 7th is to be the day that Apple not only announces the new hardware (as it did with the 3G and 3GS) but also actually makes it available for sale.
Rumor: Verizon iPhone by December 2010?
Well, we’ve certainly heard this rumor time and time again. This time around, it goes as follows: a man who has recently visited his local Verizon store was inquiring about the iPhone as he wants one but is holding out for the Verizon network to get it. The Verizon employee eventually “… got this excited look on their face and with boldness the employee declared ‘we’re getting one’ of the iPhone.”
Next gen iPhone to be touchable…on the case
With rumors of the Apple Tablet on the horizon, there has also been speculation of what the new iPhone may bring. Along with obviously having updates on software and internal hardware (which is much needed, due to the increase in competition, lately), it will most likely contain something even more innovative. Topping the list of interesting new features isthe possibility of a touch screen case much like that of the Magic Mouse.
New images showcase potential iPhone 3G 2009 candidate
New photos hosted on a Chinese blog appear to show user interface images of the new iPhone that may be announced at WWDC. Although nobody can even say for sure that a new iPhone is coming, it is pretty well accepted that there will be one. The images, although blurry, appear to be legitimate, if you ask me. They showcase some of the features everyone was expecting to be in a new version of the hardware.
Google Mobile App…with Chrome?
Did Google pull a fast one on Apple with their Mobile App? It seems there’s a bit of an Easter Egg on Google’s app for the iPhone that just might contain a browser other than Apple’s Mobile Safari.
Broadcom announces 802.11n wireless chip for mobiles
Broadcom has announced their newest chip for mobiles. The chip supports Bluetooth, FM radio (reception and transmission) and 802.11n at speeds of up to 50Mbps. On top of all of that, the chip doesn’t drain batteries like you might expect. The iPhone 3G already owes some of its parts to Broadcom, so it’s quite likely more »

According to sources from the MacBlogz site, we now have some more detailed information about the iPhone tethering plan on which AT&T said they were working. The first of these details is the 5GB bandwidth cap. The rumor says this cap may be introduced to all AT&T tethering plans to accommodate for all the new more »
