chicBuds Platinum Edition Fauvette Speakers review
chicBuds knows quite a bit about fashionable accessories, as it’s pretty much their modus operandi. Their products don’t just complement your fashion sense, they can become your fashion sense. The Fauvette Speaker is no exception. The little bird is easy to drop into a purse or bag, and to then place on a desk or even hold in your hand when listening. But does it get good sound?
E-Gear reviews the Scosche boomCAN Portable Media Speakers
Have you had it with your built-in laptop speakers? Or worse, how about that speaker in your iPad? Our friends over at E-Gear feel the same way, and that’s why they took a look at the Scosche boomCAN Portable Media Speakers. Coming in at $24.99, these portable speakers feature a 40mm driver that pumps out a big sound despite the relatively small size.
SuperTooth DISCO portable Bluetooth speakers review
The SuperTooth DISCO speaker system can be summoned up in two words: “sound quality,” which, pardon my pun, rocks. The 28 watts of total power provides clear sound without the distortion one often gets when the bass is turned up too high for the speakers to deal with. The SuperTooth DISCO fills the room enough that the sound quality is good even if you are standing behind them, which is impressive for a system this small.
iHome iD9 rechargeable speaker system review
I’ve always been a fan of iHome’s simple yet powerful product designs, and the iD9 portable rechargeable speaker system is no exception to this. It’s not overpacked with unnecessary features as with many other speaker systems, yet doesn’t lack any necessities that you would expect. It’s definitely worth the $100 price tag for iPad owners who love to take their music with them.
TRON Light Disc Audio Dock by Monster review
Monster has been known to make some bold decisions with their speaker and headphone lines, but the TRON Light Disc Audio Dock is one I really have to question. I mean, I get the coolness factor. Although I was largely disappointed by TRON: Legacy, I remain a fan of the franchise. I’m also a big fan of great sounding audio. Monster combines the two with stunning results here, but will many besides me really care?

The TEAC SR-100i is ready for your holiday parties
It’s that time of season when friends and family gather together for an evening of wine, obnoxious sweaters and music. We can’t help you with the alcohol and poor fashion sense, but we can at least suggest you take a look at TEAC’s SR-100i when you’re ready to play some classic Spinal Tap, Wall of Voodoo and Dance Hall Crashers Christmas tunes…or are those just my parties? And is that why no one ever comes?
Appletell reviews the TuneBug Shake and Vibe
Speakers are great, but aren’t necessarily portable. Headphones are a great solution, but then you’re the only one who can hear what’s playing. How do we solve this problem? The Tunebug Shake and Vibe are both good options. They are extremely portable sound generators; one wireless, one corded. Now all you need is a surface to use it with. Yes, I said surface. These are not ordinary speakers.
Portable Sound Laboratories releases the iMainGo 2
In our coverage here at Appletell, we’ve seen many iDevice cases that serve many functions. They’ve been flashlights, they’ve been camera filters, they’ve been waterproof, and they’ve been more. But although we’ve seen cases that enhance the iPhone’s audio output, we’ve never seen one that’s an actual speaker system. Until now. Portable Sound Laboratories has released the iMainGo 2, protective case that “… turns your MP3 player into a powerful and portable speaker.”
Appletell reviews the Duo-i Plus from Boston Acoustics
Everything about the Duo i-plus is serious. This is not just another wimpy iPod/iPhone speaker dock—in the categories of aesthetics, functionality, and power, it is meant to stand out. This dominating attitude turns out to be a mixed blessing, but under the right circumstances, the Duo i-plus is an audio standout among a sea of lesser competitors.
