ipod touch app reviews
Appletell reviews Ghosted for iPhone, iPod touch
I absolutely love the premise of this app. In fact, it’s the second such app I’ve tried out, and it’s the second such app to leave me somewhat disappointed. Ghosted, you see, allows you to add ghostly images to your iPhone photos, whether they’re taken through the app or pulled form your library. It’s a cool and quite creepy effect when done right, but Ghosted doesn’t always allow you to do it right.
Appletell reviews Agendus for iPhone, iPod touch
Agendus makes a pretty big promise to its users: total integration of your contacts, calendar and task list on your iPhone. It’s an enticing idea, to say the least. After all, organization helps us to get things done. Unfortunately, as with so many other big promises, Agendus falls short, mainly due to a poor user interface, an ugly design, and its bad habit of crashing.
Appletell reviews iShred Live for iPhone
I had high hopes for iShred Live. It’s the app partnered with Griffin’s GuitarConnect cable. I found the cable to be the best choice available for guitarists since it was fairly priced, designed well and still had audio quality similar to the iRig. So, I thought maybe this combo was on a roll, maybe the app was going to do great things at a lower price, just like the cable. It just wasn’t meant to be.
Appletell reviews Springpad for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad
Springpad is a free service meant to give users complete control of the information, plans, and tasks they come across in their daily lives. With ways to keep track of anything from planning a date night to saving recipes and keeping track of movies you want to see, it is quite an extensive application. That said, the core of this service lies in the web, and the iPad and iPhone clients just serve as easier ways to access and store this information.
Appletell reviews iStart Spanish for iPhone, iPod touch
Learning a second language can be a monumental task, especially if you are going at it alone. Having the right tools can make your life easier, having the wrong tools will make it a much harder task. Bearing that in mind, it’s no wonder the App store is chock full of apps designed to help you learn. Some of them are great, while others are only so-so. On which end of the spectrum does iStart Spanish fall?
Appletell reviews BookLover for iPhone, iPod touch
BookLover is an app that’s not quite there yet. I can see what it wants to do, and I can admire that, but it’s going to take a few updates before it reaches its full potential. In the meantime, it’s kind of attractive, kind of functional, and kind of useful, provided your expectations aren’t too great. I won’t recommend BookLover in its current state, but I’ll keep watching for when I can.
Appletell reviews Packing Pro for iPhone, iPod touch
Here’s the kind of app that can save a career. Or a marriage. It’s merely a database app—add, delete and edit fields, then enter information into those fields. Couldn’t be simpler, really, but QuinnScape has put enough effort into Packing Pro to make it one of the more useful apps a traveler can own. Having the answer to, “Honey, did you remember to pack the…?” right at your fingertips makes it a steal at $2.99.
Appletell reviews QuickOffice Connect Mobile Suite for iPhone, iPod touch
If any of you are still doubting the iPhone’s capability to become a business phone due to the lack of a business application suite, doubt no more. If you have to judge the iPhone’s business capability through such kind of apps—iPhone has one, and it’s called QuickOffice. This great iPhone app has practically all the functionality of Microsoft Word and Excel, including some advanced Microsoft Office features as well. In fact, the only limitation of this app is that it doesn’t handle powerpoint creation and editing.
Appletell reviews StarMaker for iPhone
StarMaker is an application designed simply to bring karaoke to the iPhone, and it provides a few nice twists in doing so. It is much like the Lady Gaga application we reviewed a while back, except that it includes a wider selection of songs from which to pick. Interestingly enough, there is also the ability to record your singing as well as easily share it with your friends. In terms of bringing a form of karaoke to the iPhone and iPod Touch, it certainly does that in a way I haven’t seen before.
Appletell reviews Yoga4Dudes: Fully Loaded for iPhone, iPod touch
“Hot chicks. Fake workouts.” Says it all, really; Yoga4Dudes: Fully Loaded isn’t so much an app as a collection of videos of attractive women doing Yoga poses in tight, revealing clothing. Taken from the video/show of the same name, Yoga4Dudes gives you 30 minutes of video, extras, and outtakes. Watching it reminded me of the old Hill’s Angels routines on The Benny Hill Show; the production has a sense of humor about itself, making it strangely lighthearted.
