ipod touch app store
Happy birthday, App Store!
It’s hard to believe it, but it has already been one year since Apple released the App Store for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It’s been a long journey full of ups (hundreds of success stories from indie developers and companies) and downs (the stress of long wait times and random decline of applications), but there is no doubt that the App Store changed the mobile phone market. With over 56,000 applications now available in the store, the iPhone has become more functional by an unbelievable amount.
How Apple can make the App Store a better place for all of us
The App Store has been around for a while now, and has inspired many other phone manufacturers to create their own version of Apple’s application marketplace. It has not only made the iPhone 100 times more functional than it originally was, it has done so in a way that is simple for the end users. That said, Apple’s App Store still does have its flaws that could be fixed by Apple to make it even that much better. The good part about these lacking features is that they wouldn’t be all that hard for Apple to implement considering their experience in the online marketplace.

Where we stand now: Ups and downs of Apple’s App Store
Ever since its release, the App Store has brought both good and bad PR to Apple and the iPhone. However, as a much anticipated update to the iPhone software, one would expect a lot of complaints if it wasn’t perfect the first go around. And it wasn’t. Despite that, Apple has managed to pull some magic and turn the App Store into the great piece of software that we know it as today. It can still be argued, though, that this store has both helped and hurt Apple in a few different ways. This article will discuss those up and downs.
After the break, we will discuss those up and downs.
App Store or Installer.app? The choice is yours.
The App Store comes out in about a week and promises to awe iPhone users with a library of awesome, Apple supported applications. Whether Apple’s idea to include this came from enraged consumers or the rush they were seeing towards jailbreaking is not known. However, in the end, Apple is still going to have to compete with Installer.app to provide the same user experience. The question is, will you still jailbreak your iPhone when the App Store is knocking at your door?
Reasons for both after the break.
