There are times when I’m traveling and stop by a coffee shop (or, ahem, “borrow” an open wireless signal) only to find that my battery has conked out on me. Unable to read email or check my Twitter status, I shamble about like some hideous beast-thing wearing the skin of a man, cursing the fates that afflicted me so. Thankfully, Mophie has come out with a battery pack for the iPod touch that they claim will double the battery life of your device.

QuickerTek has announced their rechargeable external battery for any Apple device with a dock connector for the low, low price of $44.95. Yeah, I’m doubting that anyone really wants to drop that kind of money on an external battery. Well, it’s your lucky day.

Call me crazy, but I get the distinct feeling that two battery pictured above are exactly the same thing, save perhaps a logo and $31.80.
