Apple has some work to do with iTunes 7.7, iPhone 2.0, and the App Store
Apple’s recent launch of a few very popular services and products has brought many complaints and problems to the company. Despite this, the iPhone 3G has sold out practically everywhere, and the App Store is a huge hit, but Apple really needs to get on top of these issues. These products, namely iTunes 7.7, the App Store, and the iPhone 2.0 software, are near perfect, but each have its own flaws.
After the break I will outline some of these issues.
App Store has gone live
Yes, it is true. Apple has launched the App Store, the NDA is lifted and now everyone can finally talk about their applications! Is this proof iTunes 7.7 will accept web apps not sold through the App Store?
Kind of. Gabe Jacobs put up a video in which you can see him drag an app into a developers’ release of iTunes 7.7, and it does show up in an “iPhone and iPod touch Apps” area. What the video doesn’t show, however, is whether said app will sync with the iPhone and iPod touch. more »
Apple seeds 10.5.4 build 9e12 to developers
Today, Apple seeded the newest version of Mac OS X v10.5.4 to developers. The new version is build 9e12. Currently, the biggest additions are support for MobileMe, Apple’s new replacement for .Mac. iTunes 7.7, Mac OS X 10.5.4 updates loom
It’s a definite that we’ll be seeing at least two more updates hitting Software Update before July 11th. Both the iPhone 3G and Mobile Me list system requirements of Mac OS X v10.5.4, while the iPhone lists a requirement of iTunes 7.7.
