Appletell staff picks: Romantic movies for Valentine’s Day

Oh, you may think we’re all about hacking up fruit and destroying green pigs here in our offices at Appletell Towers, but we have our tender sides. Sometimes we like to put away our iPads and MacBooks and spend an evening with our significant others and a nice romantic movie. iTunes Store starts offering discount movies

Project your iPhone videos anywhere

Tired of squinting to see that copy of Ghostbusters you rented on your iPhone? The iPhone has a beautiful screen, to be sure, but a 3.5″ movie can be tough after a couple hours. Enter the new Honlai QingBar MP101 microprojector—a tiny projector with a built-in iPod dock. Videos play through the dock connector, and the MP101 delivers a picture up to 37″ to a nearby surface, rivalling a medium-sized flat panel TV.

Jump past the break to check out the projector’s capabilities.

In an announcement on Tuesday, Apple made it official that they are bringing iTunes Movies to Australia and New Zealand. With a database of over 700 movies available for rent or purchase, opening the doors to these two countries will open up a whole new market for Apple.

“Movie fans in Australia and New Zealand can choose from a great selection of over 700 films for purchase and rent on the iTunes Store,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of Internet Services. “iTunes provides an incredibly easy and fun way for people to discover and enjoy movies, and has quickly become the world’s most popular online movie store with customers renting and purchasing over 50,000 movies everyday.”
