itunes update
iTunes 10.5.3 now available
Accompanying the new releases of iBooks 2 and iBooks Author comes iTunes 10.5.3, which allows users to sync the new interactive multitouch books using iTunes. These books can be purchased through iTunes on a user’s Mac or PC, or through iBooks 2. Aside from the ability to sync these new books, no other notable changes have been made in iTunes 10.5.3.
Apple updates iTunes to v10.5.2
Besides launching the second iOS 5.1 beta, iTunes also got a little attention from Apple yesterday, being updated to v10.5.2. The update brings “several improvements” to the iTunes Match service, addressing a problem users have experienced while trying to play or import certain CDs. Many iTunes users had complained that the current iTunes 10.5.1 had a bug that caused audio distortion problems when playing CDs via iTunes. This latest software update fixes the issue and provides some enhancements to iTunes Match.
iTunes Match settings showing up in iOS devices
When Apple launched iTunes 10.5 last week, there was no sight of the iTunes Match service that was promised as part of iCloud music service. Apple has stated the iTunes Match feature will be available to consumers at the end of October, and was meant to be part of iTunes 10.5 and iOS 5. Many users have now been reporting that a toggle switch is showing up in their iOS devices that says “iTunes Match.”
Get your Mac or PC ready for iOS5; download iTunes 10.5 now
Apple has just released iTunes 10.5, one day ahead of the release of the iOS 5. iTunes 10.5 is required for you to update your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad’s OS when iOS 5 is released October 12th.
Apple seeds iTunes 10.5 beta 9 to developers
iTunes 10.5 hit its 9th beta release today, although again without another iOS 5 beta alongside it. This could likely mean Apple is finished with its iOS 5 betas and is readying its Golden Master release for on or around October 4th. Apple is also apparently putting its focus into readying up iTunes Match and iTunes in general for a release alongside iOS 5 and iCloud, although there are still some known issues that Apple is working out.
Apple releases iTunes 10.5 beta 6.1 with iTunes Match beta
A new seed from Apple now available to developers is iTunes 10.5 beta 6.1, which adds the new iTunes Match beta that was announced back in June at WWDC. Developers will now be able to try out the subscription service before it is available publicly with iCloud and iOS 5. Developers that help test iTunes Match, which is unfortunately only available in the U.S. as of now, will also be awarded with an additional three months of service after the beta period is over with the purchase of a 12-month subscription.
Apple releases iTunes 10.4.1 update
It’s time to fire up Software Update again. Apple released an update to iTunes, bringing it to version 10.4.1. The update contains mostly bug fixes, but you’re definitely going to want to download it. It addresses issues with media keys, song and video artwork, unresponsiveness and VoiceOver issues. The update builds on version 10.4, which was the first version of iTunes designed specifically with OS X Lion in mind.
Apple releases iTunes 10.4 with 64-bit support in Lion
Apple has released iTunes 10.4 alongside OS X Lion (now making sense of the version number for the 10.5 beta), featuring support for full screen in Lion and 64-bit support as a Cocoa application. Apple released an iTunes 10.5 beta that also had 64-bit support, although now users won’t have to wait for that upcoming version to go public to enjoy the support for Macs with more than 4GB of RAM.
iTunes 10.3 and 10.5 beta now available
Two new versions of iTunes, the 10.3 public release as well as the 10.5 beta for developers testing the iOS 5 beta, have been released by Apple. The iTunes 10.3 public release mostly focuses on bringing some new iCloud features, such as iTunes in the Cloud and Automatic Downloads while the 10.5 beta mostly focuses on adding support for installing and using the iOS 5 beta.
Apple releases iTunes 10.2.2
Apple has released another update to its iTunes software, dubbed version 10.2.2. This update focuses on “important” bug fixes, and doesn’t bring any notable new features. An iTunes update that will actually bring new features doesn’t look like it’ll be showing up anytime soon, as we’ll probably have to wait for an announcement of the next major iOS release (likely to be iOS 5) before that time comes.
