Free apps update for January 14th, 2010

Now that CES is over, we can get back to our regularly scheduled programming. That means the free apps list is back! And thankfully, this week it’s packed full. What we’ve learned from Gameprom’s Pinball HD is that pinball makes much more sense on the iPad than on the iPhone. In fact, it makes much more sense than on the computer. Some of the best on the iPhone come from Gameprom, but now they’ve outdone themselves. Their forthcoming app—Pinball Remote—allows you to use your iPhone for flipper and plunger control on the pending Mac versions of their popular iPhone apps.

Appletell reviews $0.99 pinball games for iPhone and iPod touch

I doubt there are many people out there who, upon first seeing the iPhone screen, thought, “Hey, it’s shaped just like a pinball playfield!” Not even I did that, and I do enjoy the pinball. But fact is, yes, the iPhone and iPod touch gaming mechanics are conducive to some solid pinball action, which is why there are so many options available to here. Here are a couple of the $0.99 variety: Pinball Wizard and Jungle Style Pinball.
