OS X Lion capable of reinstallation over the Internet
9to5 Mac has managed to get ahold of an internal AppleCare manual (above) that contains information about a new recovery system in OS X Lion that is summoned by holding down the Command+R keys during boot. The new recovery mode allows users to restore their Mac to any Time Machine backup, run Disk Utility, and now also reinstall Lion over the internet directly from Apple’s servers without the need to actually boot into Lion and do so from within the Mac App Store.
Appletell reviews GoodSync Pro for Mac OS X
Making backups is crucial to keeping your data safe, and having a reliable utility for synchronizing files makes this task easy. I rely on a variety of utilities for backups, but sometimes you just need to keep two folders synchronized or set up an automated folder backup. There are lots of synchronizing applications out there, but many of them are expensive and hard to use, or they lack the features that you will find in GoodSync Pro for Mac.
Apple creates 2TB model of Time Capsule, drops the price of 1TB model
This week, Apple quietly updated their Time Capsule line by adding a 2TB model alongside the existing 1TB model. These new 2TB models will cost a nice sized $499.00, while the 1TB model has been lowered to just $299.00. The specs on the new, larger model appear to be the same as the 1TB model that has existed for a while now, except for, obviously, the size of the hard drive. It doesn’t even appear as if Apple has mentioned this new product update on their home page.
