Parallels announces Mac Mini Server

Apple has stopped making the Xserve, but that doesn’t mean the end of the Mac as a server, especially with the release of Parallels Server for Mac 4.0 Mini Edition. Whither OS X Server?

With the recent demise of XServe (Apple’s flagship server product), technology bloggers have been abuzz with speculation that OS X Server must be next on the chopping block. Has Apple completed a mystical transformation into a consumer electronics company, devoid of concern for desktop hardware? Does Apple not care at all about data centers? Apple announces new Mac Mini with HDMI port and SD slot, new design

Instead of simply allowing today’s iPhone 4 pre-order to keep us Apple fanboys happy, Steve also felt it necessary to unveil the new Mac Mini. This new desktop computer now comes with a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 320GB memory, and NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics. However, that’s not the best part. At only $699, the cheapest Mac available also comes with an HDMI port and SD card reader on the back. Quite impressive.
