Apple releases new OS X 10.7.3 beta to developers

Apple has pushed a new developer beta for Mac OS X 10.7.3; registered developers can downloaded it now from the iOS Dev Center. This is the third developer beta of OS X 10.7.3. Apple has instructed developers to continue focusing on and test app compatibility within the iCloud document storage, Address Book, Mail, iCal, Spotlight, and Safari.

Apple has pushed the new 11D24 build for the Mac OS X 10.7.3 to developers. This new build is to expand developers interest into improving Apple’s services like iCloud Document Storage, Address Book, iCal, and Mail. Apple asked developers to focus their attention to a whole new list of areas such as Spotlight and Safari. As we reported a few weeks back, this new 10.7.3 built will make it the second maintenance update for OS X Lion sent to developers.

Apple seeds version Mac OS X 10.7.3 to developers

Yesterday afternoon, Apple released to developers the third update to Mac OS X Lion. OS X v10.7.3 will mainly focus on software improvements for iCloud document storage as well as the AddressBook, iCal, and Mail apps. The update weighs in at 633MB and, as usual, comes with warnings for developers that once the update is installed there will not be a possibility to revert back to a previous version of the OS. Developers are asked by Apple to focus on any bugs that can be found in Apple’s native apps.

OS X Lion 10.7.2 seed 2 released to developers

OS X Lion 10.7.2 seed 2 was released to developers on the afternoon of August 22nd. There are no known issues, so it should be released to the general public soon. Apple asked the developers to focus on the “functionality of AirPort (Wi-Fi), AppKit, Graphics Drivers, the Mac App Store, Mail, and Spotlight.”

Latest Snow Leopard build prepares Mac App Store for Lion

Apple has recently released its third build of Mac OS X v10.6.8 to developers, asking them to focus on testing graphics drivers, VPN, QuickTime, networking, AirPort, and, most importantly, the Mac App Store. The release notes for the newest build state it aims to “enhance the Mac App Store to get your Mac ready to upgrade to Mac OS X Lion,” potentially meaning that Apple is planning to deliver Mac OS X Lion through the Mac App Store as well as through physical copies.

Apple seeds yet another beta build of OS X 10.6.7

Only about a week after the last beta build (10J855) of Mac OS X 10.6.7 was released to developers, a new fifth build of the upcoming OS (10J855) has already been released to the developer community. Developers have once again been asked to focus their testing on graphics drivers, the Mac App Store, AirPort, Bonjour, and SMB, as well as Safari this time.

Apple has started seeding the fourth beta build (10J855) of the upcoming Mac OS X 10.6.7 to developers just a week after they seeded the previous beta build. All four builds have been released within the last four weeks, so it seems Apple is working together with the developers in order to get this next update for Snow Leopard ready for the public pretty quickly. This new build apparently contains no documented known issues, which likely indicates they’re getting very close to a public release.

Mac OS X v10.6.6 update cools down hot-running MacBook

I have not been an entirely happy camper in Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard for several reasons, but primarily because of the effect it has had on my computer’s running temperature. After installing the OS X v10.6.6 update this weekend, I was delighted to discover that the MacBook was now running at a Leopard-esque low to mid-60°s range, with the fans mercifully gone silent.

Mac OS X v10.5.7 released

Apple has just released Mac OS X v10.5.7. Amongst numerous stability and performance updates, the improvements include changes to iCal, Mail, and Parental Controls. The Combo update is a whopping 728MB (951 MB for the Server Update Combo). If you only need the point update, it’s available at 440MB.
