Mac OS X v10.7 Lion Keynote Preview

There are over 250 new features in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion but only 10 were highlighted at the keynote speech at WWDC 2011. What’s most interesting about Lion is how it takes some of the features from the iOS and incorporates them into the Mac OS for a new experience. Appletell will have in-depth looks at some of these features in future articles, including some that weren’t covered in the keynote. Until then enjoy the preview of what you can expect in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion that were talked about at the WWDC 2011 keynote.

Mac OS X v10.7 will be sold on the Mac App Store

Mac OS X v10.7 Lion will be released this Summer. And instead of having to go to a store to buy your copy or wait for the DVD to come in the mail, you will be able to use the Mac App Store to purchase and download it instead. For those without broadband, who are still using Mac OS X v10.6 or lower, or who just don’t want to download Lion, there will be a way to get it with the traditional optical disc.

Things we lost in Apple’s Back to the Mac event

New features, new hardware, new stats…Apple certainly delivered enough shiny new software and hardware to keep us fans happy (for a little while, at least). With the parade of engineers touting new, improved (less filling) software, it is easy to overlook the destructive side of Steve Jobs’ changes today. Here is a roundup of what was lost during today’s “Back to the Mac” Event:

Apple is already developing Mac OS X 10.7

Not even three months after publicly launching Mac OS X 10.6, coined Snow Leopard, Apple is already working on the next addition to the OS X family. This information has been confirmed by database changes to the open source “launchd” framework which deals with OS X booting and administering running processes, as it cites an error message that references a “11A47″ build number.
