Appletell’s predictions for Apple’s 2012 products and announcements

fortune-teller-378w

2012 is going to be an exciting year for Apple. Already, unnamed sources and analysts no one has heard of before are coming out with tall tales of what Apple products are going to be released and what market Apple is going to take over. Yet, who better to peer into the misty and unknown future than the writers at Appletell who have been following Apple for years?

Rumor: Speculations on the Thunderbolt Mac Pro

M.I.C. Gadget reports that while the Thunderbolt Mac Pro will use a new processor, it will be an 8-core CPU from Intel. This will give up to 16 threads per processor with hyper-threading and will be available first on the Mac Pro. Their sources say Apple is investing heavily into the Mac Pro, although since this is new technology, they have run into some difficulties.

Rumor: Mac Pro and Mac Mini refresh coming this summer

Brian Tong from CNET is predicting that a refresh to the Mac Pro and Mac Mini line-ups will be coming in either late July or early August of this year. Not many details on what the refreshes will include have been released, although we’re likely to see additions of features such Thunderbolt I/O and Sandy Bridge processors as with the other refreshes that have already taken place this year.

Apple announces new Mac Pros, up to 12 cores

The new Mac Pros sport Intel’s Xeon (“Nehalem”) processors with a variety of configurations. The extreme end is, obviously, the most gaudy one: Apple is offering users the options to slap two CPUs, meaning up to 12 cores of processing power, into the towers for a starting entry price of $4,999. Twelve! These machines use Intel’s “Westmere” processor series, which is the codename for the 32-nm processor chips.

Apple updates Mac Pro, iMac lines, releases “Magic Trackpad”

Good morning! I trust you slept well last night, right after you ordered an iMac, Mac Pro, and several of those cutting-edge, multi-touch Apple Magic Mice. Got your coffee? Seated comfortably? Good. You may now commence screaming, because Apple has announced updates to the iMac and Mac Pro lines, along with the release of a new multi-touch “Magic Trackpad.”

The new Mac Pro: first look

The updated Mac Pro was just one of the many refreshed products announced today by Apple. They’ve taken an amazing machine and turned it into a monster. It’s like Beauty and the Beast all in one package. The most obvious updates were the new Intel Xeon “Nehalem” processor and the NVIDIA graphics card.

New Mac mini! New iMac! New Mac Pro!

The Apple store is back up, and pretty much every Macintosh that doesn’t have the word “Book” in it has received an upgrade. The Mac mini, iMac and Mac Pro all have new models at various price points, with the iMac seeing the most models (four). But were the Mac mini predictions right? Are there really five USB ports? HDMI? Well…yes, no, and just head inside for more.
