MacKeeper v1.8.1 for OS X review

A little bit more than a year ago I got the chance to test-drive MacKeeper for the first time. I really liked the application, but even more, I liked the potential of it. I’ve been using it ever since, catching up to every update, and looking for improvements. To me MacKeeper is a winner, and you can try it for free by downloading the trial from the MacKeeper site. Have fun with it. It’s worth it.

This application is apparently capable of activities from “scanning files to recording user activity, as well as sending information about this activity to remote servers and opening a backdoor on infected Macs.” Labeled as high risk, this malware has been existent in a different form on Windows since 2008 and is usually installed via misleading text about a “market research” program.

Appletell reviews Rohos Logon Key for Mac OS X

Rohos Logon Key allows you to turn any USB drive into a security key for your Mac. Using either the USB port, Bluetooth, Yubikey, or Touchatag, you can make sure your Mac is secured on a hardware level instead of just with a password. In fact, this application allows for two part security by allowing you to also add a PIN to the USB keys you create, meaning the user must have both your hardware key and software identification number.

Lockdown: anti-theft system for Mac

To secure our valuable belongings is always important. It doesn’t really come to just price; what makes an object valuable to his owner varies from one person to another.

There’s a wide range of solutions to secure everything we have, and even though I’d like to think common sense and care are the most important ones, it’s really difficult to be alert all the time. If we can get a little bit of extra help, there’s no reason to turn our backs against it.

When it comes to my Macs, nothing is too much to secure them; as I stated before, the reasons for everyone are different. In my case, I work with them, I paid a lot of money to get them (in Venezuela we don’t have prices as good as in the U.S. or even Europe), and, let’s admit it, I love them.

Learn about my security solution after the break.
