Further confirmation of MacBook and MacBook Pro rumors
We’ve all heard about the refresh of MacBooks and MacBook Pros. The rumors have been flying, and it’s hard to not start believing at least some of them when they all go in the same direction.
As we reported earlier this afternoon, AppleInsider is adding to the rumors with their latest about the laptops. They say (from sources who admittedly don’t have a long track record) that the new laptops are going to share design inspirations from both the MacBook Air and the current iMac. This suggests that the new design will look something like the render above, only with tapered edges.
My Hopes for a Notebook Refresh
With the possibility of an event to announce a refreshed Apple Notebook line, there have been a few rumors flying around about what to expect. Some of them are fairly believable, but MacBook rumors aren’t. Keep in mind that this is not a prediction, merely what I would like to see, no matter how unlikely it may be.
New MacBooks rumored to be already be shipping
The rumors of new MacBooks just won’t die. MacRumors has some new details on the fabled devices. Citigroup’s Richard Gardner is claiming to have inside information about said MacBooks.
The report cites “field checks” as the source of the information and describes the new MacBooks with a “very thin aluminum casing, an LED-backlit display and an aggressive entry-level price point.”
This seems to go along with the rumors that have been circulating about Apple’s updated MacBooks, and their trends in design.
Is this the new MacBook in an aluminum case?
These pictures come from the same source, Apple Pro (via Engadget), as the last MacBook Pro aluminum case redesign rumor you may have seen. The picture shows a totally aluminum case for the MacBook. The MacBook label is in the exact same place as the current MacBook, and the case appears to be the same shape. While this still is just a rumor, the pics seem to either be real or really well done fakes.
More after the break.
All MacBooks to have LED-backlit displays by 2009
According to the Taiwan area newspaper Economic Daily News, every MacBook released in 2009 will use an LED backlight. Backlight manufacturer Kenmos Technology was Apple’s chief supplier of the more color-accurate and efficient screen hardware for 2007, and is expected to have an even more dominant role next year as Apple switches its consumer models more »
Christmas to Come Early
With all the WDDC rumors flying around Worldwide Developers Conference 2008, it has become tough to keep track of them all. Here is a list of recent rumors, and details on their credibility.
1. 3G iPhone – Is the Pope Catholic? I think that it is safe to say that this is the only rumor that is definitely going to become a reality. Now the only question is what it will look like and what any changes to the OS will be. Personally, I would love the iPhone to look something like this. Two of the biggest proofs behind this rumor are a lack of iPhones (“Currently unavailable”) on the Apple website and the fact that AT&T are not allowing their employees to take vacations for a period of time this summer, supposedly around the 3G iPhone launch. Also pointing to 3G are supposedly leaked screenshots of the 3G iPhone, strange new terms on shipping manifests, dates supposedly being announced, strange looking icons buried deep within the iPhone SDK, and announcements coming straight from the horse’s mouth, or in this case, the mouth of the Telefónica Europe’s CEO.
