MacBook Nano to show up at Macworld?

In what appears to be complete speculation, the UK technology news website named ElectricPig has written an article over at their site about the MacBook Nano that Apple will supposedly be announcing at Macworld on Tuesday. According to them, this machine would not only kick the competing netbooks’ behinds when it comes to power, but would also be ultra sleek by “stripping away the features that clog up other ultra-portables” such as “connectors for external monitors, wired network connections and even abandon hardware support for headphones and a microphone.”

iMovie is moving out… going to the cloud

According to ComputerWorld’s sources, Apple is ready to update iMovie and move it to the cloud. Here’s what Seth Weintraub had to say:

I’ve heard from reliable sources that Apple will offer a significant update to iMovie at next week’s Macworld. It will largely focus on Internet video in the Cloud for the YouTube generation.

This juicy little rumor is just in time for Macworld Expo. This feature could be helpful for some movies, especially for those whose end destination is YouTube. Plus, you have the added benefit of not having to store those movie files on your computer. Files uploaded to Apple’s service would be viewable on an iPhone or iPod Touch.

New cooling system, processors coming to next-gen Macs at Macworld 2009 or later?

According to sources related with the Taiwanese companies that produce Apple’s Macs, the next-gen iMac due early next year will include a new cooling module. Although there isn’t much evidence of this, an article published this Monday stated that Foxconn Precision Components and Auras Technology would supply “the PC’s cooling module” for the new “magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis.” The Mac currently uses a fan based cooling system that may need to be beefed up a little more if Apple does, in fact, plan to include a new quad-core chip into their machines.

Wait, what’s going on with these new chips?

Apple to release Apple TV software for use on any Mac?

With MacWorld right around the corner, now is about the time when the rumors start to come from every direction. One such rumor that has recently popped up concerns the Apple TV, a multimedia platform for TVs. This rumor states that the software on Apple TV will become available for any Mac computer via a special download or separate box of software. The price for this software will be anywhere from free to $99. However, it gets sort of interesting when the rumor states that this may allow for a special gaming section of the App Store where users can then turn their iPhone or iPod Touch into a gaming controller for their TV. Do you believe it?

More evidence for new iMacs and Mac Minis with NVIDIA chipsets

The evidence can be found deep inside some configuration files on new MacBooks. The current model number for the iMac is 8.1 while the Mac Mini is 2.1, so these incremented numbers likely represent unreleased models. The reference to a CFG_MCP79 is assumed to be the NVIDIA MCP79 for obvious reasons. New Mac Mini to be introduced at Macworld?

Macworld is coming, and if Wired is to be believed, a new Mac Mini is coming along for the ride. That’s pretty much as far as the rumor from an anonymous source goes, but I won’t leave you hanging.

The rumor might be a bit lacking in details, but there are a number of things that can be expected from a new Mac Mini.
