Apple’s Q4 earnings results

Apple had yet another phenomenal quarter, selling 11 million iPods, 6.8 million iPhones, and 2.6 million Macs this time around. Apple zooms past 10% marketshare on a fast journey upward

Apple, growing now at exponential rates, has passed the 10% marketshare mark, landing at 10.4%.

Apple is growing in leaps and bounds in an economy where few companies are. This time last year, Apple’s market share was at 7.5% of the industry, and the year before, they had 5.4%. That means that between 2006 and 2007, Apple grew 2.1%, and between 2007 and 2008 they grew 3.9%, nearly doubling the rate of growth.

Mac gains lead on PC market sales

A study by NPD on sales figures of PCs in brick and mortar stores shows that Mac units despite going beyond the $1000 price markup, is still gaining leads over the declining sales of Windows PC. In fact, Windows PC notebooks showed zero percent growth as compared to Apple notebooks which have gained a 50 to 60 percent growth for the first quarter of 2008. For the desktop PC sales category, Apple’s Mac units showed a 45% growth, despite the 25% decline in the overall market performance, which was reflected in the sales of Windows desktop PCs for the same period.

Piper Jaffray says Macbook Air to take 16% of Mac market by end of year

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster predicts that the new MacBook Air will take a mere 16% of the Mac market share by the end of 2008. After conducting a survey with Apple resellers, the outcome was that interest in the product is very high, due to the thing factor, but sales will be modest. After Gene Munster talked to 20 Apple specialists he gave his thoughts to the press:
