Appletell reviews the Kanex iAdapt HDMI V2
Have you ever been watching TV on your Macbook and wished the screen was bigger? Or maybe your wish comes in the form of needing a second screen in order to manage all of that extra junk you need open in order to complete your project? Well, no matter which situation you are in, if what you need is a bigger screen, the Kanex Adapt HDMI V2 can get the job done.
Appletell reviews Kanex iAdapt 51
I love that Apple puts a display output on all of their Macs, but honestly, the Mini DisplayPort is useless. Seriously, the only thing it’s good for is adaptation. My favorite thing to adapt it to is HDMI since it’s infinitely more common on any TV you might come across. Kanex has an adapter or two that handle this conversion for you, and although a Mini Displayport to HDMI adapter is a good purchase, I’m just not sure their iAdapt 51 is the one for you.
Appletell unboxing: The new Mac Mini
Is it just me, or is there something completely different about taking a new piece of Apple hardware from its box and introducing it to the real world? Perhaps the same goes for every box full of $900 worth of stuff. In any event, I thought you might be interested to see the latest Mac Mini being ripped from it’s minimalistic packaging and being examined on video. After all, half the fun of buying something new is unboxing it…and video taping it?
The new Mac Pro: first look
The updated Mac Pro was just one of the many refreshed products announced today by Apple. They’ve taken an amazing machine and turned it into a monster. It’s like Beauty and the Beast all in one package. The most obvious updates were the new Intel Xeon “Nehalem” processor and the NVIDIA graphics card.
Why the double monitor port Mac mini is likely
Regardless of whether the Mac mini that has been popping up in pictures and video is the real deal “2009 Edition” or not (my bet: not), a key point many are making to prove it is fake actually makes sense: the two video out ports, one DisplayPort and one mini-DVI.
Video surfaces of “fake” Mac Mini
We reported on the new Mac Mini image that hit the internet Thursday that had 5 USB ports and a Mini DisplayPort connection on it. I was fairly convinced that it was a pretty good Photoshop job, but now there’s new evidence to back up the original image. Take a look.
Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter now has a shipping date
I know you were bummed when the new MacBooks predictably didn’t come with HDMI connectors, but it’s okay. Well, soon enough it will be. MonoPrice finally has an availability date for the Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter that they promised to have ready for January. It’s coming March 15th, 2009.
Apple issues NVIDIA graphics update
Today, Apple pushed an update for Mini DisplayPort equipped MacBooks across the board. The update addresses issues that users who purchased the Dual-Link DVI adapter and actually tried to use it. They also improved the playback of HD video with the NVIDIA graphics in each of these machines. The press release follows.
Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter coming…from MonoPrice
If there’s one port that users want more than any other on new Macs, it’s a firewire an HDMI port. There’s a way to do it already, but it’s clumsy. You currently need a Mini DisplayPort to DVI, and then either a DVI cable and a DVI to HDMI adapter, or a DVI to HDMI more »
How long can Apple wait to deal with the Mac Mini?
According to MacRumor’s Buyer’s Guide, it’s been about 450 days since Apple last updated the Mac Mini. That’s over 2.5 times the average of 188 days for a Mac Mini product cycle. I think it’s safe to say Apple needs to do something about the Mac Mini. Dennis Sellers from Macsimum News thinks that Apple will make that decision soon.
Since I’m pretty sure that we’ll see an iMac and Mac mini update on Tuesday, Nov. 10 (if they’re not announced today), I’m going out on a limb and say that we’ll see new Mac Pros introduced at January’s Macworld Conference & Expo.
Now it should be immediately noted that this is pure speculation. There is no leaked information behind this, just a gut feeling. Oh, and to add to the credibility, Nov. 10th is a Monday.
But we all knew he meant Tuesday, Nov. 11, or should I say iTuesday? In any event, we’ve been waiting for some answer from Apple about this Mac Mini business. It’s been rumored to be either dead or upgraded. The only rumor that isn’t going around right now is that it’s going to stay the same; that would just be too boring.
I’m not going to make a prediction on the exact day that Apple will announce an upgrade to the Mac Mini, but I think it will happen…soon. Here’s my reasoning…
