The Social Playbook: Fantasy Online

Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) games often come to mind when a person thinks of social games, and yet there are few of them on Facebook, which I always found a little odd. Most of the ones that do exist require a high-speed Internet connection or just aren’t fun. Fantasy Online is both playable over dial-up and is incredibly fun and entertaining with a quirky sense of humor. And best of all, it has new features added often.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm coming to Mac OS X in December

Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. has announced that World of Warcraft: Cataclysm will be released on December 7, 2010. This third expansion for the subscription-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game will be available on DVD-ROM for Macintosh and Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 at a suggested retail price of $39.99 and will also be offered as a digital download from the Blizzard Store. A special Collector’s Edition packed with bonus items will be available exclusively in retail stores for a suggested retail price of $79.99.

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning for Macintosh now available

War. What is it good for? For hammering online, apparently. Mythic Entertainment and Electronic Arts have announced that the critically acclaimed MMORPG, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (WAR), is now available for the Macintosh. The Mac version is available to new subscribers via digital download at Gametreeonline.com for $19.95. Current subscribers can download the Mac version free of charge.

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning hits Mac on October 28th, beta available now

If Mythic Entertainment had a hammer, they’d hammer out war all over this Mac. Not sure how the Weavers would feel about that, but it’s good news for Mac gamers. Mythic Entertainment has announced that the critically acclaimed MMORPG, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (WAR), will be released for the Macintosh on October 28, 2009. WAR on Mac will be available to new subscribers via digital download at Gametreeonline.com for $19.95 and includes 30 days of game time. Current subscribers will be able to download the Mac client at no charge for use with existing accounts.

City of Heroes comes to Mac OS X

Another popular MMO, known as City of Heroes, has made its way to the Mac OS X operating system. Mac users already have other popular MMOs such as EVE Online and World of Warcraft, and this is just another addition. Even though it took quite a while for NCsoft to port the game over to OS X, their widely popular superhero massively multiplayer online game is finally available for Mac gamers. On a positive note, there is no annoying DRM on the release of the game, and the port generally runs very well on OS X.

WOTLK to hit stores on November 13: Will classes be fixed before release?

World of Warcraft fans have a lot to be excited about, as Wrath of the Lich King will be released on November 13th. This is the third expansion of the extremely popular MMORPG. It’s good news for Mac gamers, since it’s a game we can actually play on our Macs without using Boot Camp or Parallels.

With all the goodies in store for gamers who purchase Wrath of the Lich King, you would imagine that everyone is excited about the upcoming release, right? Not so.
