Apple’s Magic Trackpad leaked before WWDC

Just hours before WWDC, Engadget has posted leaked pictures of yet another Apple surprise product, the Magic Trackpad. In the same style as Apple’s bluetooth keyboard, the Magic Trackpad appears to be a MacBook Pro’s multitouch trackpad in wireless form. This is quite an interesting set of pictures since we haven’t heard much of anything about a Magic Trackpad, but the logic is sound behind this product.

Wacom announces new Bamboo tablets with multitouch

It’s official, Wacom has announced their new and improved Bamboo tablets, now with 100% more support for multitouch. There are five new models. We found out about one of these, the Bamboo Touch, last week at Best Buy, but what we didn’t know was that there are four more models. And who doesn’t like more models? That’s what I thought.

Best Buy outs Wacom’s secret Bamboo Touch multitouch tablet

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I was strolling through Best Buy in the photography section and there, next to all of the other tablets, was Wacom’s yet to be announced Bamboo Touch. According to one of the employees with whom I talked, they put them out last night since there was no street date on the product. Chances are that a Best Buy near you has this on its shelves right now, too.

A multitouch future for the Mighty Mouse?

MacBlogz has put together a fantastic article about what they think might be the future of the Mighty Mouse. This possible future is based upon numerous patents filed by Apple and some speculation.

The Mighty Mouse debuted in August of 2005, and has since received only a small design change in 2007. The Mighty Mouse has been and continues to be an amazing device, albeit with a few flaws. It’s Apple’s only multibutton mouse, though these buttons are simulated with touch sensitivity, save the squeeze activated button. Recent patents have expanded upon that touch sensitivity bringing it into the realm of multitouch.

Four finger multi-touch gestures on older Macs

MacRumors posted yesterday that someone has been able to hack their January 2008 MacBook Air to support four finger gestures, including Expose, and Application Changer entirely through software. The user posted to the MacRumors Forums saying how the hack was done. I cannot personally confirm the validity of this hack, but if it is true, more »

The Apple Brick, you couldn’t hope for much more than this

I’m going to start laying a wall with all these bricks I’ve been stumbling over for the past few days. I don’t mind though. If there’s one thing that gets me excited, it’s Apple rumors, and I bet you’re the same way.

Cult of Mac has a great article about what they, and I, want the Apple Brick to be. Be forewarned, this is just a dream. To the best of my knowledge, this is not even a rumor.

The article details a device, with pictures from a concept of the OLPC version 2 by Yves Behar, that is similar in some respects to a standard ultra portable laptop. It would open like a standard laptop, run a version of OS X, and have an Apple logo. But that’s where the similarities end.

Further confirmation of MacBook and MacBook Pro rumors

We’ve all heard about the refresh of MacBooks and MacBook Pros. The rumors have been flying, and it’s hard to not start believing at least some of them when they all go in the same direction.

As we reported earlier this afternoon, AppleInsider is adding to the rumors with their latest about the laptops. They say (from sources who admittedly don’t have a long track record) that the new laptops are going to share design inspirations from both the MacBook Air and the current iMac. This suggests that the new design will look something like the render above, only with tapered edges.

A refresh for the Apple Cinema displays may be in the works

MacRumors is reporting a rumor of new Apple Cinema displays to be announced at MWSF 2009. The only feature rumored to be added is LED backlighting.

Apple’s 20″, 23″, and 30″ Cinema displays have remained expensive and relatively unchanged since launched in 2004.

Rumor: Apple to debut OS 10.6 sooner than we think?

There’s been talk lately about what Apple’s operating system will be like in the future, and some evidence that Apple is already working on it. Will it be entirely multi-touch? What will it be called? If this next rumor is to be true, we might be seeing a sample of what’s to come sooner than more »
