Band of the Day earns App of the Week, my respect

Band of the Day

Despite what your parents and those leftover Hootie fans say, there’s more great music out there than ever, it’s just not on the radio or on MTV. So, where do you look for great new bands after your subscription to CMJ has expired? Try out 955 Dreams’ Band of the Day, now a universal app for iPad support.

FL Studio HD for iPad review

The main competition for FL Studio HD is Garageband, and while they share some features, these apps really have quite different focuses. I tend to think Garageband is geared more towards musicians who want to record and supplement the instruments they already play, be that guitar, bass, piano, etc. FL Studio HE is all about creating music from scratch using the app as the instrument(s).

Apple officially introduces iCloud

As expected, one of the highlights of Steve Jobs’ Keynote Address today was the formal introduction of its newest flagship product – the iCloud. This new service is described as a new cloud services that will work seamlessly with your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Mac or PC applications and will automatically and wirelessly store your more »

Image-Line’s FL Studio Mobile is coming to iOS

Garageband for iPad is a pretty sweet app, there’s no doubt there. But there are a few possible names that could give Garageband a run for its money should they ever make an app of their own. One of those names is FL Studio. Yes, soon you’ll be able to lay down some potentially sick beats with FL Studio Mobile in iPad or iPhone.

djay for iPhone on sale for $1

That’s right, algoriddim’s djay is just a dollar for the rest of the week. If you aren’t already familiar with djay, it’s an amazing app that simulates two turntables on your iPhone or iPod touch. It does everything: mixing, scratching, beat matching, looping, effects… The list goes on, and I could keep explaining, but what you should really do is just go buy it. At a dollar, you’re practically stealing it from them.

GarageBand for iPad review

GarageBand for iOS is a major achievement in music apps. It’s an all in one app that lets you record audio, process a guitar signal and even play your iPad as an instrument with minimal skill necessary. It’s a dream come true for musician’s on the go and a great place to put all of your musical ideas. There’s really no comparison on the App Store. Apple has hit a home run with GarageBand for iOS. Let me tell you why.

iPhone Appidemic: djay for iPhone

Whether you’re an aspiring DJ on the go or just a regular guy yearning for more creative song transitions while you listen to your favorite tunes, you owe it to yourself to check out algoriddim’s djay for iPhone and iPod touch. It’s an insanely feature rich DJ app that’s only limited by your own creativity. And they’ve even accounted for extreme lack of creativity with the AutoMix feature.

iPhone Appidemic: TC Electronic’s PolyTune

Tuners come in many forms: pitch pipes, electronic devices, and now apps. But nearly all of them share the necessity of tuning a single note at a time. TC Electronics thought, hey, why don’t we make a better tuner? So they did. It’s called PolyTune, and it can tune more than one note, or string, at a time. That makes it the world’s coolest tuner, and it’s available as both a pedal and now an app for your iPhone.

AmpliTube for iPhone gets update full of new features

IK Multimedia has pushed a full version update for AmpliTube for iPhone. The update includes features like CD quality recording, master effects, sound quality improvements, new gear in the store, Speedtrainer and more. Needless to say, it’s a major update. Best of all, it’s free for all current AmpliTube for iPhone users, with the exception of some extra features that require in-app purchases.

Grooveshark app pulled from App Store

Don’t blame Apple or Grooveshark, blame Universal Music Group UK for pulling one of the best streaming music apps previously available on the App Store. Apple received a take down notice from Universal Media Group UK, and since you’re guilty until proven innocent when it comes to the music world, they pulled the app from the App Store until something can be done.
