Apple MacBook Air gets new processors, Thunderbolt I/O and backlit keyboard

The new MacBook Air is loaded with the latest Intel Core i5 and Core i7 dual-core processors, making it twice as fast as the previous generation of MacBook Air. Aside from these new processors, the new MacBook Air also features the Thunderbolt I/O technology which was recently introduced via the latest iMacs and MacBook Pros.

New Macbook Air comes with Software Restore on USB

Well now, this is interesting. When Apple introduced the new Macbook Air today in two sizes, Steve underlined that, as always, they wouldn’t come with optical drives installed. No surprise there; Air owners can either use the Macbook Air external optical drive, or “borrow” the drive of another computer. But what if you need to do an emergency reinstallation of the system software? Apple’s ingenious solution to the problem: put the software on a custom USB drive, of which the Air has two ports.

Apple updates the MacBook Air

As the “Back to the Mac” media event appeared to be drawing to a close, Steve Jobs announced just “one more thing.” This isn’t just a newly updated MacBook Air, oh no. This is, in Steve Jobs’ own words, what you would get if a Macintosh and an iPad “hooked up.” In a nutshell, the new MacBook Air is the best of both worlds. It’s as powerful as a Macintosh, but it’s almost as portable as an iPad, and it’s as quick to turn on, too.

New MacBook Air to do away with HD and SSD in favor of something else?

We’re already pretty sure that we’ll be seeing a new, 11.6 inch MacBook Air at this week’s Apple event. However, some new and very interesting information has been brought onto the scene by a couple of different sources. Rumor: Apple to unveil “smaller and sleeker” MacBook Air

Apple is set to hold a press conference next week dubbed “Back to the Mac.” The invitation indicates that the next iteration of Mac OS X—Lion—will be unveiled. But how about Mac hardware? Specifically, the seemingly neglected MacBook Air? Well, some reliable sources are reporting that Apple is, in fact, set to announce a new “smaller and sleeker” MacBook Air. How small? Rumors say we’ll be looking at an 11.6 inch screen.

Macbook Air gets updated, shouts, “Don’t forget about me!”

With all the news about the major revamp of the Macbook family, it’s easy to forget that Apple also made a few revisions to the former favorite child, the Macbook Air. The Air now features the same NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics card as both the Macbook and Macbook Pro (though the Pro also features a more »

My Hopes for a Notebook Refresh

With the possibility of an event to announce a refreshed Apple Notebook line, there have been a few rumors flying around about what to expect. Some of them are fairly believable, but MacBook rumors aren’t. Keep in mind that this is not a prediction, merely what I would like to see, no matter how unlikely it may be.

Apple planning October event to update computers?

At yesterday’s Let’s Rock event, the focus was, as expected, 100% music. There was some hope that Steve would pull one of his famous “One more thing…” speeches and whip out a couple of new MacBooks, MacBook Airs, and MacBook pros. There were also more rumors that said notebooks would half to wait until closer to the holiday season, and recent reports show that this rumor may come to fruition.

According to Daring Fireball’s John Gruber, an insider at Apple has informed him of an event that has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 14th.
