The title of The Ricky Gervais Show is a lie. For although it does indeed feature Ricky Gervais and his comedy partner Stephen Merchant (well known for their work on The Office and Extras), the star of the show is Karl Pilkington, their former producer and co-host. The basic premise of the show, which is absolutely side-splittingly funny, is this: Ricky and Stephen ask Karl about important matters of the day, such as monkeys in the news, and the meaning of phrases like “People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones,” and then laugh riotously and relentlessly ridicule his unique responses.
